Namsan Mountain Park (with N Seoul Tower at night)
Namsan Park is one of Seoul's top tourist destinations, attracting both locals and visitors from around the world year-round. It is particularly famous as a breathtaking spot to see Seoul at night. This time, I decided to visit after sunset to experience its beauty under the night sky.
A close friend of mine, who had been working overseas in Mexico, came back to Korea for vacation. As part of our Seoul itinerary, we decided to end the day at Namsan Mountain after visiting the Blue House and Gyeongbokgung Palace, a perfect conclusion to an already memorable trip.
That day, we took public transportation to reach Namsan Park. One of the easiest ways to get there is by taking the 402 bus, which stops conveniently in front of Namsan Library.
Parking
For those driving, there is a parking lot near Namsan Library, where you can park for 160 KRW per 5 minutes. However, it is relatively small, so finding a spot can be tricky.
From here, it’s about 1.3 kilometers to Namsan Seoul Tower. A well-maintained walking trail leads up the mountain, making for an easy and scenic 30-minute hike.
We took our time walking up the path, and before we knew it, we arrived at Seoul Tower Plaza, home to the iconic Namsan Tower. The evening sky was still bright, allowing us to enjoy a clear panoramic view of Seoul before sunset. In my opinion, the best view can be found from across the plaza.
One of the most famous landmarks here is the "Love Locks" area. There are countless love locks attached to the fences, a romantic symbol left behind by couples from all over the world.
Seoul Tower Plaza
Seoul Tower Plaza is more than just a viewpoint, it’s a lively space filled with restaurants, cafes, shops, and entertainment venues. Inside, you’ll find a Starbucks, a hot dog stand, a photo studio, and more, making it a great place for a casual indoor date.
After exploring the plaza, we continued our hike up to Namsan Park Square, where Palgakjeong Pavilion is located. From here, the night view of Seoul was simply breathtaking.
By the time we arrived, the sky had quickly darkened, making the city lights shine even brighter.
For those looking to take in an even higher view, the observatory at the top of N Seoul Tower is open late into the night. Tickets cost 21,000 won per person, and from up there, you can experience a stunning 360-degree view of Seoul.
Instead of taking the same route back, we decided to descend via a different path, the road behind Palgakjeong Pavilion, which leads to the Namsan Cable Car.
The cable car station is just a short walk from the pavilion.
A one-way ride costs 12,000 won per adult, while a round-trip ticket is 15,000 won. However, we opted to walk down the mountain, following the path along the Namsan Fortress Wall. This route provided numerous scenic viewpoints, offering stunning nighttime views of the city along the way.
Namsan Park remains one of Seoul’s must-visit spots, offering breathtaking views, peaceful trails, and easy accessibility via walking, bus, bicycle, or cable car. Whether you're visiting during the day or at night, it’s a fantastic place to experience the charm of Seoul.
This is one of the few places I return to every year, and I never get tired of it. If you haven’t been yet, why not plan a trip? Both Namsan Park and N Seoul Tower are especially magical at night.
