Coffee and Cigarettes

Coffee and Cigarettes

I finally visited Coffee & Cigarettes, a café near City Hall Station (Seoul) that I’ve been wanting to check out for ages. I had a reason to be in the area early in the morning, so I decided to stop by while I had the chance.

The café is known for its beautiful views of Deoksugung Palace and the Seoul city skyline, so I made sure to arrive right at opening time 8:30 am to grab a nice window seat.

Getting to the café is super easy. Just take Exit 2 from City Hall Station, and you’ll see the Yuwon Building. Head up to the 17th floor, and you’ll find the entrance as soon as the elevator doors open.

And wow, the view when you step inside is breathtaking. You can see Gwanghwamun, and even Inwangsan Mountain in the distance. I instantly headed to a window seat and started taking photos. The morning light made everything feel crisp and calm.

It was early March when I visited still a little chilly, but the skies were clear, with no fine dust in sight.

Menu

I ordered one of their signature drinks 'the Salt Scotch Latte', along with a financier. They also offer cocktails, bagels, and croissants, which I’d love to try next time.

True to its name, Coffee & Cigarettes actually sells cigarettes and lighters at the counter, something you don’t often see in cafés these days.

I was surprised by how spacious the café was. There are a lot of tables, which makes it great for solo visitors. Many people were working on laptops, giving it a quiet, focused vibe.

By around 9 am, office workers from the building started trickling in, and soon after, all the window seats were taken. So yes, if the view matters to you, come early!

Just like the menu described, the Salt Scotch Latte had a bold, rich espresso base balanced by a hint of sweetness. It was comforting and strong, the perfect morning coffee. Financier was soft and flavorful.

There’s something about this part of Seoul Gwanghwamun, City Hall, Deoksugung that gives me good energy. I always feel inspired here, and honestly, I’d love to work in this neighborhood someday.

The sky feels bigger, the view feels endless, and the air feels just a little freer. I noticed quite a few international visitors too, so it seems the café is popular with tourists as well.

Before heading out, I browsed through their goods section near the entrance. They sell tumblers, glass cups, hoodies, and canvas bags, all with that chic Coffee & Cigarettes vibe.

I recently heard they opened a second location in Huam-dong (near Seoul Station) called Coffee & Cigarettes BCity and I definitely want to visit that one next.

Taking a weekday off to café-hop around Seoul is honestly one of life’s underrated joys. I left Coffee & Cigarettes feeling refreshed, recharged, and fueled by good coffee and good vibes.

If you're ever near City Hall, Deoksugung, or just want to enjoy a peaceful moment with a sweeping city view, I highly recommend stopping by Coffee & Cigarettes.
