Hongtak Mokpojip is a restaurant located in Cheonggu Subway Station, Sindang-dong. Kong-guksu (cold soybean noodles), Bibim noodles, Yeolmu noodles, and Baek-ban (rice with side dishes) are available for lunch, while Bossam (boiled pork) and Samhap (fermented fish with bossam) can be ordered in advance for dinner. Famous singer Seong Si-Kyung recently made it known as a popular Kong-guksu (cold soybean noodle) restaurant on his YouTube, which is how I found out about it and where I now like eating.

There aren't a lot of tables because it's such an old establishment. Eight individuals can sit inside, and another six to eight can sit outside. Due to a lack of seating, most diners have to share a big table. The dish takes me back to the noodles I enjoyed while traveling in Southeast Asia.

Noodles and Baek-ban (rice with side dishes) were previously served here for lunch, and Bossam (boiled pork) and Samhap were only available in the evenings with advanced reservations. However, for lunch, only Kong-guksu and Bibim noodles are available due to the high demand for them right now.

When I sat down, the owner promptly brought me a bowl of Kong-guksu. Although customers keep coming, the noodles are ready sooner than expected. A finishing touch of black bean powder is added on top. You can eat this unseasoned soybean noodle by simply adding salt or with the Yeolmu kimchi.

There is no fishiness to be found in this nutty soup made with soybeans. The addition of black soybean powder enhanced the nutty flavor. It is not seasoned at all but is still excellent. The nutty aftertaste and tender noodles are two of my favorite things about this dish. I'm not a fan of sweet or salty seasonings, this dish is delicious when paired with yeolmu kimchi. If you are interested in cold soybean noodles, you should eat at this eatery.

It makes me nostalgic for the cold soybean noodles I ate as a kid, sitting in front of a fan in the middle of the summer.
