There are many Nengsam (frozen samgyeopsal) restaurants in Seoul, but we visited Nari's House (Itaewon, Seoul),  a famous and long-established spot known for its delicious frozen Samgyeopsal!

They serve a variety of Korean hot stews . However, Nari's House in Itaewon has become especially known for its Nengsam.

There are two nearby subway stations: Hangangjin and Itaewon. The restaurant is open daily from 2 p.m. to midnight, with closures every other Sunday.

Even though we arrived late at night, there was still a line. We were number 30 in line, and number 21 had just been seated.

While Cheonggukjang (fermented soybean stew) is famous here, we ordered Kimchi jjigae (kimchi stew) along with three servings of Samgyeopsal.

Side dishes

Geotjeori is a dish made with thickly sliced green onions. Pairing it with nengsam helps balance out any oiliness you might experience from eating it on its own.

 

 

Nengsam (fronzen samgyeopsal)  14,000 won

One of the best Nengsam restaurants in Seoul.

Grill some Nengsam and season it with some pepper.

Negsam is best when dipped in the salted sesame oil.

We asked for some Gochujang and wrapped the nengsam with a few extras.

The naengsam here is thinner than other naengsam restaurants, yet it still retains its flavor and tender texture.

Seokkeo-jjigae  7,000 won

Seokkeo-jjigae is a Kimchi stew with soft tofu inside

Fried rice isn’t on the menu, so you have to make it yourself! I added rice, bean sprouts, kimchi, samgyeopsal, and ssamjang, then stir-fried it all together.

Itaewon Nari's House is famous for its Nengsam (frozen samgyeopsal) in Seoul.

It’s a truly authentic nengsam restaurant, and the food exceeded my expectations. I’ll definitely be back the next time I’m in town!
