Located in the heart of Apgujeong Rodeo, 'Ruby Tteokbokki' is a popular Korean restaurant known for its authentic Tteokbokki (rice cake), Twigim (fried food), and Gimbap.

Saeukkang Tteokbokki is the specialty here, and the combination of spicy tteokbokki and shrimp is a delight. This Apgujeong Rodeo restaurant is so well-known that it was once featured on a popular cuisine TV show.

 

Menu

Saeukkang Tteokbokki is the house specialty, and the Sausage Gimbap is a customer favorite as well. To save 500 won and to be able to have Twigim (fried food), I opted for the Blue set (18,000 won).

The blue set includes Saeukkang tteokbokki, mixed fries, and sausage Gimbap. The accompanying oden (fish cake) soup had a rich shrimp taste.

 

Saeukkang Tteokbokki

Saeukkang Tteokbokki features rice cakes in a delicious spicy broth topped with crispy tiny fried shrimp. The rice cake had a pleasant chewiness that I enjoyed and tteokbokki broth had a pleasant spiciness with the fried shrimp’s rich flavor.

 

Sausage Gimbap

Genuine German sausage was used in their Sausage Gimbap. The flavor reminds me of a hotdog with a Korean sausage. I was pleasantly surprised by how well the Gimbap and sausage went together.

 

Modeum Twigim (assorted fries)

Fries include fried squid, potato, and seaweed rolls. The fries had a good level of crispiness and flavor overall. The fried onion stood out as particularly tasty. It had a strong onion-like flavor that was perhaps amplified by the inclusion of shrimp. The taste was quite flavorful and interesting.

Located near Apgujeong Rodeo, Ruby Tteokbokki is a popular snack bar and a symbol of Apgujeong. The owner's creative twists on traditional snack dishes set his eatery apart from other tteokbokki eateries. Overall, the fact that it tasted like fast food was a bit of a letdown. Apgujeong Rodeo's main street is nearby, making this a convenient spot. If you are looking for tteokbokki in Apgujeong, this is the best spot.
