I’ve always believed that dressing oneself is both the simplest and most complex form of self-expression. When it comes to fashion and lifestyle, Seongsu-dong is undoubtedly the hotspot everyone is flocking to.

During my recent visit, I explored Velvet Trunk (Seongsu, Seoul) a lifestyle concept store in Seongsu-dong, opened by ECRU of HOODS SEOUL, well-known for brands like Neighborhood and Wtaps. The store also carries coveted names like Human Made, Engineered Garments, Undercover, and the eco-conscious PUEBCO line.

The store’s logo perfectly matches its vintage-inspired building, creating a nostalgic yet modern vibe. 

To maintain a pleasant and curated shopping experience, the number of customers allowed inside is limited, so it’s common to see a line forming outside.

Upon entering, I was greeted by a display case filled with incense and other home aromatics. The store’s layout immediately draws you into its unique, curated aesthetic.

Puebco

One of the main reasons I visited Velvet Trunk was for PUEBCO products. This brand stands out for its dedication to sustainability, creating designs from entirely recycled materials.

PUEBCO offers a wide array of functional and stylish items for the home and office, including pouches, bags, home decor, bathroom necessities, and cooking utensils. 

Their commitment to recycling, paired with their attention to design, makes them a standout brand for those seeking eco-friendly yet chic lifestyle products.

Unfortunately, the main item I was after—PUEBCO diffusers—was sold out in all three varieties. The staff mentioned that restocking plans were uncertain, so I’ll have to keep an eye out for them in the future.

In the end, I purchased a glasses tray. A small, practical item with a charming design that’s perfect for holding eyewear. Since this tray is upcycled, it may not have a pristine finish, but that adds to its character.

Velvet Trunk is more than just a store, it’s a destination for discovering new brands, embracing unique styles, and being inspired by thoughtful designs. Whether you’re shopping for your home, wardrobe, or simply exploring Seongsu-dong, Velvet Trunk offers a hip, curated experience that’s worth the visit.
