Namsan (Autumn Season)
As autumn arrives, the recent pictures of maple leaves and ginkgo trees that people have taken were so gorgeous.
I had been thinking that I should go out once before autumn ends, but then I saw the leaves blowing around in the wind and rain and realized the trees would be bare soon, so I went before it was too late.
There are many places famous for maple leaves and ginkgo trees, but the one I visited was Seoul Namsan Tower.
It was around mid-November, and luckily, the ginkgo and maple leaves were still hanging on. If I had shown up a bit later, I probably would’ve missed this too.
As I was walking, a strong wind blew and the ginkgo leaves fell, and the scenery was so spectacular. I believed it was a good time to show up, even now.
Namsan (mountain) Park
You can get to Namsan Tower in a few different ways. I headed up the stairs at the entrance of Namsan Park Road.
The starting point is right here. Google map
It's about 1,200 meters from the starting point to Namsan Tower. But honestly, it's mostly stairs from start to finish. It probably took around 30 minutes to get to Namsan Tower without taking a break.
As I made my way up, it felt like I was getting a bit closer to Namsan Tower. But it was not, from here you’ve got to hike for another 20 minutes to reach Namsan Tower.
By the way, can you see what I am wearing?
I was just planning to stroll around Namsan Tower and check out the fall colors, so I was on a skirt and ankle boots. I definitely didn't think I'd be climbing stairs like this.
Fortunately, I had on some comfy shoes, and my jacket hid my skirt, so I could hike without any issues.
However, on the way up, I eventually started to notice some leafless trees. Seems like the leaves dropped quicker up top since the wind was stronger there.

I had been thinking a lot about whether to hop on the Namsan Tower Cable Car before heading up.
Because when I go down, I have to walk in the opposite direction of the way I came up, towards Itaewon, and the difference between a one-way ticket and a round-trip ticket is only 3,000 won.
I figured it wouldn't make sense to buy a one-way ticket, so I just walked up. But if you're thinking about going round-trip, the Namsan Cable Car would be a good choice.
As I was getting close to the top of Namsan Mountain, I caught a glimpse of the Seoul skyline beyond the trail I hiked up.
It’s a bit hard to see since the trees are in the way, but the weather was great and the view was super clear, which felt really refreshing.
Love Lock of Namsan Tower
It's pretty well-known among couples.
I haven't put on a lock like this since I was dating my boyfriend, but since I came to Namsan Tower this time, I thought I'd give it a go.
But, if you buy a lock here, it's gonna cost you a bit. A regular lock is 10,000 won, but if you want one with a cherry blossom key ring, it’ll cost 11,000 won.
If you're thinking about getting a lock for Namsan Tower, I suggest checking out Daiso in the city for one.
I bought one here. I picked a white lock so I could easily write on the back and see it easily.
We just engraved our secret code and locked it up. Now we are locked to each other forever.
And finally, we arrived at Namsan Tower.
We already had lunch, but with so many restaurants at Namsan Tower, it would be nice to eat here as well.
On the left, there was also an entrance to the observatory. Of course, you have to pay to go up to the observatory.

There is also a package deal that comes with the observatory ticket and a meal. If you're into it, I'd suggest booking online through the Naver website to get a discount!
I could see Seoul pretty well from here, and there was so much to check out, so I skipped the observatory.
There are a bunch of love locks up here as well.
There's a box to toss the key away. It seems like a good idea to set up a box like this. If you lock it and toss the key on the ground, it could end up harming the environment too.
Just one more thing!
There was this spot where you could get your fortune read. They had all sorts of options, like love fortunes, age fortunes, and even ones for couples or married folks, all for just 1,000 won.
After checking out Namsan Tower, we made our way back down. This time, we took the route back down toward Itaewon.
There were also a bunch of ginkgo trees on the way down.
I had a relaxing time just hanging out and checking out the ginkgo trees and those golden-yellow autumn leaves. After checking out the autumn leaves, we had some food in Itaewon!
Had a wonderful day hanging out at Namsan Tower, which is a popular spot for autumn leaves in Seoul, and had some tasty food in Itaewon.
If you're thinking about where to go in Seoul this fall, definitely check out Namsan Tower. It's a super popular spot for those beautiful autumn leaves.
