Seoul Museum of Art (Seokpajeong)

Seoul Museum of Art (Seokpajeong)

I visited the Seoul Museum of Art (Seokpajeong) to see Kawashima Kotori’s exhibition [Saranran], and found that the ticket included access to the other ongoing exhibitions, [I’m Doing Fine] and [The Art of Luxury] as well. Both of these are held in the main building.

After purchasing the ticket, the viewing route guides you to start from the right side and move upward through the exhibits. Finally, on the 4th floor, you reach Saranran, and from there, you can continue on to explore Seokpajeong itself.

On the right side is a painting titled Persimmon Tree by artist Oh Chi-gyun. The texture of the work is incredibly captivating.

There’s also a painting by Shin Saimdang on display.

I didn’t have high expectations going in, but the exhibitions turned out to be much more enjoyable than I anticipated.

There were works by Kim Whan-ki and Chun Kyung-ja, along with pieces by Kim Ki-chang and more. Seeing their works up close was a real treat.

Many of the large-scale pieces stood out with their rich, expressive textures.

Bull by Lee Jung-seop.

His heartfelt letters and illustrated postcards were also part of the exhibit.

The exhibition also featured works by Yayoi Kusama, Salvador Dalí, and Andy Warhol, as well as Korean masters like Kim Whan-ki and Lee U-fan.

A graceful moon jar was also on display, quietly commanding attention.

Even if you're not deeply familiar with art, this is the kind of exhibition anyone can enjoy. The museum houses an impressive collection of works by Korea’s most celebrated artists, well worth a visit.
