Cafe Onion is one of Seongsu-dong's most popular coffee shops.

Delicious bread and coffee can be enjoyed in a setting with a distinctly romantic and vintage vibe that was created by renovating an old structure. In addition to its locations in Anguk, Gwangjang Market, and Mia, it is also one of the most well-known cafés in all of Seoul.

Because it is housed in a renovated old structure, it has managed to preserve its vintage look. The walls on the inside and outside were left unaltered but the ceiling was repainted to make the room more visually appealing. The cafe's ambience was surprisingly pleasant thanks to the sunlight streaming in through the windows.

Rooftop and outdoor seating were also available. Considering its location in the heart of the city, the area is surprisingly spacious.

The bakery of Café Onion is also quite popular. Approximately twenty varieties of bread are available, all of which receive high marks. The most well-known items are salt bread, chocolate salt bread, and the Black cheese bomb, but it's good to be able to pick and select based on personal preference.

 

Menu

The black cheese bomb had a nice cheesy flavor, and the sweetness of the condensed milk on top provided a nice balance, and the nutty flavor was enhanced by the inclusion of nuts. The Americano I ordered was also among the best coffees I've had recently. It had a light acidity that was easygoing and perfectly expressed coffee's, natural sweetness. Everyone seemed to love drinking it, and it went particularly well with bread.

Everything about Onion Seongsu, from the decor to the coffee to the pastries, was excellent. If I had to give one criticism, I'd say that it gets too busy on the weekends because of how popular it is. It was a great place to spend time because, unlike the weekends, weekdays are less hectic and more peaceful. I highly recommend Cafe Onion if you find yourself in the Seongsu-dong.
