Knotted (Anguk)
Over the weekend, we went on a date to Anguk-dong because we had to attend the wedding ceremony in Jongno, Seoul.
The Knotted (Anguk) is a well-known doughnut house. Even though I was already aware of this, my husband found out about it via watching Jang Seong-Gyu's Workman channel on YouTube. Knotted (Anguk) was the location where Jang Seong-Gyu spent a day working.
On Saturday at 2 p.m., there was almost no line when he arrived.
If you choose to eat in the store rather than ordering takeout, though, you'll need to wait until you can find a table. Fortunately, the wait to be seated was only five minutes.
Their trademark is that smiley face. Until now, I had only considered doughnuts adorable, but cakes were even more so.
It's decorated in a beautiful Hanok (Korean traditional house) style, but the walls are covered in graffiti, creating a wonderful mixture of Eastern minimalism and Western street art. The outdoor seating area is always packed with customers.
We went when the weather was great and the couples ahead of us were getting ready to go out, so we didn't have to wait long before getting a seat.
Milk Cream Donut / Chocolate Pudding Donut / Classic Vanilla Donut
After much consideration, we decided to get one of each of the most popular kinds of doughnuts.
The Milk cream, as predicted, was the best. The bread was much more tender than typical donuts.
The Chocolate pudding was reminiscent of chocolate milk, and its smooth consistency made it a pleasure to eat. Classic Vanilla has a more creamy and silky texture.
The milk whipped cream doughnuts were a little awkward to eat, but they are Knotted's specialty and were very delicious. Also, coffee was one of my favorite flavors.
Adorable Goods from Knotted.
Of course, my favorite is these adorable stickers. And a tin case that I don't really need but want to have
These smiley stickers are free, so you can take one.
You're welcome to take the coloring sheets with you, too.
My husband, who doesn't like sweets, really liked the Knotted. I had considered ordering doughnuts to go, but I had another schedule afterward and had already eaten three of them, so decided not to.
I will try their famous croissants on my next visit. Also, I will visit another famous doughnut house Randy’s just in front of Knotted.
