Café Tung
The Yulgok-ro area has recently become one of Seoul’s trendiest spots. While the Royal Building’s roastery café on the ground floor is also quite appealing, we had a different destination in mind, one a little higher up.
Up on the seventh floor, you’ll find Café Tung (Anguk, Seoul)
Stepping out of the elevator, you won’t see a storefront immediately. Instead, there’s a corridor lined with open-concept spaces. On the right is Café Tung, and on the left is Empty Life, a bar.
During the daytime, most visitors are café-goers, but in the evening, the space transforms as Empty Life turns into a lounge bar. However, if you prefer espresso beverages, they’re available until 10 pm.
Thanks to its breathtaking views, Café Tung has quickly become a hotspot.

We ordered two coffees and a slice of cake. Given today’s café prices, it didn’t feel expensive, so I didn’t expect much but the coffee turned out to be fantastic!

This dessert was a bit unusual, maybe even overly complex with ingredients like vanilla cream, blueberry, and raspberry compote. However, it was quite delicious!

The medium-roasted beans had a delicate, nutty flavor that I really enjoyed. Since I requested a milder coffee, the staff thoughtfully poured the extra shot into a separate glass, allowing me to adjust the strength myself.
This level of attention to detail is rare these days, and I truly appreciated it.
I had a great experience at Café Tung and would love to return, perhaps on my own next time. With stunning views, quality coffee, and thoughtful service, it’s a place I can see myself visiting again soon.
