Ephemera (seongsu)

Ephemera (seongsu)

Last Friday, I went on a date to Seongsu-dong. It had been almost a year since my last visit and wow, how things have changed!

Seongsu has now fully embraced its identity as a pop-up hotspot, with new stores, art spaces, and events popping up all over the place. It was buzzing with energy, especially with lots of international tourists roaming around.

We took the day off on Friday, hoping to beat the weekend crowds but parking was still nearly impossible. Even the Hyundai Terra Tower parking lot, which we had bookmarked ages ago, was almost full. We managed to grab the last spot. Lucky us.

After parking, we walked over to LCDC (Seongsu, Seoul), a bit of a walk but totally doable. The stroll was actually enjoyable since we passed by several new pop-up spaces along the way. It made the walk feel like part of the adventure.

LCDC is a multi-level cultural space packed with pop-up stores, local brands, and cozy corners to explore. Most of the retail spaces are located on the second floor, making it a great stop for anyone spending time in Seongsu.

We started upstairs, wandering through various concept stores, before heading down to the café on the first floor, Ephemera (Seongsu).

It was a hot day, and the terrace was nearly empty, probably too hot for most people. I imagine it would be a nice spot to sit in the evening, though.

We arrived just after lunch, and the café was quite busy, with lots of nearby office workers popping in for a quick break. Thankfully, there were still enough seats for us to settle in before ordering.

Ephemera Café

Inside the café, there’s a small corner on the right selling stationery, cups, photo albums, and other lifestyle items

Menu

Their signature drinks, especially the Ephemera Signature Latte and Summer’s Tea, seemed to be customer favorites. We went with a Summer’s Tea and a Latte.

Although the dessert menu looked tempting, we had already eaten brunch before, so we passed this time.

There’s also a beautiful spiral staircase inside the café that leads up directly to the second floor where the fashion stores are. The third floor houses several concept stores and design brands like Geulwol, known for stationery and home goods.

As for the Summer’s Tea, it was a refreshing drink with citrusy lemon ice that gradually melted into the tea. Super refreshing, especially on such a hot day.

Before stopping at LCDC, we had already checked out three different pop-up stores nearby. While they were fun to explore, nothing really caught our eye enough to make a purchase.

To be honest, it was so hot that we didn’t end up taking many photos, but it still turned out to be a lovely day. Seongsu has changed a lot, but it still holds that unique charm that makes every visit feel like something new.

Whether you're in the mood for a stylish coffee break, creative shopping, or just a different vibe from your usual routine, LCDC and the Seongsu area are well worth a visit. It was a great way to spend a day off, slow, curious, and full of little surprises.
