Hergé Bakery (seongsu-dong)
Hergé (Seongsu, Seoul) is renowned for its jambon beurre sandwich, a classic French delight that has captured the hearts (and taste buds) of locals and visitors alike.
Known for its French-style pastries and breads, Hergé combines sourdough baking with a cozy and welcoming atmosphere.
If you’re visiting the Seongsu-dong store, take Exit 2 from Seongsu Station and walk for just a minute. While they also operate a second location in Apgujeong-dong, the Seongsu flagship offers a unique charm.
For those who want to enjoy their bread in a relaxing setting, head to the café on the second floor, where you can pair your Hergé bread with a drink.
Though the shop is small, it’s beautifully furnished with an inviting vibe. Fun fact: Hergé is named after the famous cartoonist behind The Adventures of Tintin.

Hergé’s jambon beurre sandwich (7,800 won) is the star attraction. A simple yet elegant sandwich made with a fresh baguette, it’s packaged beautifully, ideal for enjoying at home, in the shop, or on the go.
During my visit, at 4 pm on weekday, the shelves were stocked with several jambon beurre sandwiches. However, by 6:30 pm, just before closing, there was only one left! Clearly, this sandwich is in high demand.

Herge's Jambon Beurre
Hergé’s jambon beurre is simply amazing. With a richer, buttery flavor and a milder saltiness compared to typical versions, it strikes the perfect balance. The addition of pepper adds a subtle kick, elevating the taste even further. If for nothing else, a visit to Hergé is worth it just to try this sandwich.
Whether it’s the jambon beurre, their artisan breads, or the cozy atmosphere, this bakery has something special for everyone.
