Staff Picks (seochon)
Today, while heading to a book café with my husband, we stumbled upon Staff Picks (Seochon, Seoul) by chance. It turned out to be a well-known café, having been featured on a popular TV show, a pleasant surprise!
Walking in, we were immediately drawn to the outdoor terrace, where jazzy music filled the air. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, making it feel like a hidden romantic spot in Seoul.
The café also offers parasol-covered seating, which would have been perfect if not for a wall slightly obstructing the view. I ended up choosing a seat in front of the café building, where I could enjoy the fresh air and golden afternoon sunlight.
Inside, the soft illumination added to the cozy ambiance. Groups of friends and couples sat chatting over their drinks, creating a laid-back yet lively atmosphere exactly what I had been hoping to find.
Another plus was the flexibility to sit indoors or outdoors, depending on the mood.
The café is conveniently located just a short walk from Gyeongbokgung Station (Exit 1), with a small parking area nearby, a rarity for cafés in this area!
Menu
Although pound cake seemed to be a popular choice here, I had already eaten dinner and didn’t have room for dessert.
Earl Grey Latte 7,000 won (left) / Plum Ade 8,500 won (right)
The Earl Grey Latte was a little on the sweeter side, but the charming atmosphere made it enjoyable. The Plum Ade, despite being 8,500 KRW, was a refreshing and flavorful alternative to coffee, definitely worth trying if you’re looking for something different!
As the evening deepened, the café filled with people enjoying their conversations, music, and quiet moments. The sky gradually darkened, signaling the slow and peaceful transition into night.
One unique feature of Staff Picks is that there’s a bookstore and wine shop on the second floor but I’ll save my full thoughts on that for another visit.
For now, I can say that we had a wonderfully relaxing evening here, and I highly recommend this café to anyone looking for a cozy retreat in Seochon.
