Hangaroum
While looking for a charming Hanok (Korean traditional house) accommodation to host an overnight party with friends, I found a place called Hangaroum that opened in December 2023.
It takes around five minutes to get there via bus from Anguk Station.
This neighborhood feels very familiar since it's close to the well-known Samcheongdong Sujebi eatery I visited often as a kid. Since the weather wasn't that cold, I took a walk and enjoyed the surrounding scenery.
There are a bunch of well-known restaurants close by, but since the place is in a residential area, it is quiet and peaceful. From the exterior, the accommodation appears to be extremely pleasant and well-kept.
As soon as you go inside the front door, a charming little courtyard will greet you.
Kitchen
Right when my friends and I walked in, we all agreed it looked way better than the pics we saw.
The photos just don't really show off that cozy warm wood vibe like they should. The actual ambiance was way cooler than what we saw on the website.
The place has two floors, and on the first floor, there's a roomy wood table for tea ceremonies and the first bedroom.
Bedroom 1
A bed that's spacious enough for two people. There's this small window between the living room and the bedroom, and the view outside is just lovely. When you pull down the blinds, it turns into such a cozy space.
There was a tree, likely since Christmas was around the corner.
Living Room
I snapped lots of pics because it was just so beautiful.
There are bathrooms on both the first and second floors, making it a great spot for a family of four to stay.
The stairs leading up to the second floor are really nice too.
Once you got the 2nd floor, you'll find a roomy dressing table with a mirror, toothpaste, toothbrush, hair dryer, and towels to your right. If you go a bit further in, there's a jacuzzi waiting for you.
Jacuzzi
The jacuzzi was way bigger than it seemed in the pics. It was spacious enough for four people to hang out together.
The floor around here is made of stones, so if any water splashes out while you're using the jacuzzi, it dries up pretty fast. Even though it's not shown in the picture, there's a chair on the other wall where you can chill for a bit after using the jacuzzi.
The bath salts were also a nice touch, and I made good use of them.
Bedroom 2
Right behind that is the second bedroom.
You can lower a projector screen between the bedroom and the jacuzzi to create some separation between the two areas. There's a dehumidifier up on the ceiling to keep things comfy inside.
After wrapping up the spa, we moved on to the main event of the day: The gift exchange!
Netflix
We ended up watching Netflix on the screen, even though it was pretty late.
The blanket was super soft and cozy, so I had a great night's sleep.
The traditional Hanoks can get pretty chilly with all that wind, but the double-glazed windows keep things cozy inside—warm enough that you might even want to turn on the air conditioner.
Another nice thing is that there's a coffee dripper set, and a tea set, so you can chill together in the living room and just relax. That's why they called the place 'Hangaroum (relaxed)'.
We had to check out by 12, but we really wanted to hang around a bit longer, so we ended up leaving right at 11:59.
See you soon!!
It was an awesome spot, definitely one of the top 3 places I've stayed in Korea. My friends and I promised to hang out for 2 nights next time we make more money.
