Voco (Myeongdong)
Lately, I’ve been craving a staycation, somewhere near Seoul, where I could lounge around with a book, enjoy a peaceful morning swim, and take a break from the usual routine. That’s when I decided to check into Voco Hotel (Myeongdong, Seoul), and it turned out to be the perfect choice.
Located right in the heart of Myeongdong, it was close to home but felt like a getaway. With endless dining options and tourist attractions nearby, there was no shortage of things to do (or eat!).
Voco Hotel actually has two locations in Seoul, Myeongdong and Gangnam. I chose the Myeongdong branch for its central location. The hotel sits in a prime spot with easy access to shops, restaurants, and cafes.
There’s even a Twosome Place café and a 24-hour convenience store right on the first floor of the hotel.
Unsurprisingly, I saw a lot of international guests, this place is definitely a hit with travelers.
Check-in is at 3 pm, and check-out is at 11 am, but when I asked for a late checkout, they extended it to 2 pm without hesitation. That kind of service already had me impressed.
Deluxe Mountain View (Room 1503)
I stayed in a Deluxe Mountain View room with a king-sized bed, which was ideal for a solo staycation. The space was generous, with enough room to unpack comfortably, and the overall room condition was excellent.
Complimentary minibar (sparkling water, orange juice, soda—all free!)
In-room amenities like a safe, iron, cozy slippers, and a plush bathrobe
Reusable amenities for sustainability. (Note: razors, toothbrushes, and toothpaste are available for purchase, though you can always grab them at the 24/7 convenience store downstairs if you forget!)
The temperature in the room was just right, making it an incredibly comfortable space to relax in. There was a desk/table that could double as a vanity or workspace.
And the view? A stunning look at Namsan Mountain. It’s the kind of view you’ll want to capture.
Club Lounge (18F)
After settling in, I headed up to the Club Lounge on the 18th floor, book in hand.
Although my room package didn’t include Happy Hour access, I was still welcome to enjoy coffee or tea in the lounge.
I was seated by the window and offered a choice of coffee or tea! Alongside it came a lovely plate of traditional Korean sweets like cookies, Yakgwa (honey cookies), and sweet red bean jelly. Everything was delicious, and the atmosphere was calm and cozy.
Fitness Center & Indoor Pool (3F)
The fitness center is open 24/7 and operates unmanned, while the indoor pool runs from 6:00 am to 10:00 pm, with a short break from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm.
Guests can access both with their room keys. I had packed my swimsuit and swim cap (required for pool use!).
To my surprise, I had the pool all to myself, everyone else must’ve been out exploring the city. It was peaceful and refreshing. The pool is 1.4m deep, and the water was pleasantly warm.
Later, a dad and his child joined, but since the pool was spacious and there were no dedicated lanes, it was easy for all of us to swim freely without getting in each other’s way.
(Note: Kids under 16 must be accompanied by an adult, and there’s no lifeguard on duty.)
Lockers don’t have keys, so it's best to keep valuables in your room.
Lunch Buffet at 52 Market Place (2F)
I couldn’t leave without trying the hotel’s new restaurant, 52 Market Place, which recently opened on the second floor. I had a 1+1 lunch buffet promotion, so I invited a friend to join me.
The buffet was impressive, focusing mainly on Korean dishes but also featuring international flavors.
Fresh bibimbap ingredients and assorted kimchi. Soy-marinated crabs and shrimp.
LA galbi, spicy duck, and bulgogi.
Grilled salmon, lasagna, ribs, and chicken penne.
A noodle station offering Vietnamese pho, Korean-style noodles, and Sujebi (hand-torn dough soup).
There was even a section featuring traditional Korean liquors (available at extra cost).
From the convenient location in the center of Seoul, the cozy and clean rooms with Namsan views, the relaxing club lounge, and the peaceful indoor pool, every part of my stay at Voco Seoul Myeongdong was a delight.
Whether you're planning a staycation, hosting friends from out of town, or simply want to relax without leaving the city, Voco Seoul Myeongdong is a place I’ll happily recommend.
