I am picky about lodging, yet this hotel is fantastic, and I am writing this review with honesty and specificity.

 

Location

It is conveniently located near Dongdaemun History and Culture Park Subway station (DDP). It will just take you three minutes to walk there.

The building is prominently tall and well-presented from a distance.

Toyoko Inn Hotel can be found close by as well. There was no weird or intimidating ambiance, so I felt safe strolling around at night.

 

Reservation

It was easy for me to reserve a spot in advance via the website. Single rooms, double rooms, a 6-bed mixed dorm, and a 6-bed separate dorm for men and women are all available.

To celebrate the grand opening, they are currently providing a 30% discount.

I was considering a double room, but a dorm with six other people seemed fine. The nightly rate of 28,000 won per person is rather reasonable.

 

Check-in

Mangrove has a basement, a first level, and an apartment floor.

The basement houses a variety of facilities (a gym, a library, a convenience store, and a laundry room, among others). The lobby and the cafe are located on the first level.

There is a community desk on the left where you can register and receive a QR code.

Using a QR code, you can use the elevator to different floors.

 

Bedroom

Mangrove Dongdaemun is not only a hotel but also a shared house where people can stay for an extended period.

We're staying on the second floor, there was no one in the 6-bed women's dorm.

 

Like most Seoul hostels, the 6-person dorm at Mangrove Dongdaemun offers three sets of bunk beds.

Since I am a responsible elder sibling, I let my younger sister make the initial selection and followed her to the upper-level bed.

The bed was quite strong, and the soundproofing was excellent, so I didn't have to worry about disturbing the sleeping infant underneath me.

There was a wonderful white duvet and a wooden shelf by my side that I could use to store my belongings.

A huge body towel, a little towel, a pamphlet about Mangrove Hotel, and two bottles of mineral water were all provided in the private closet.

The restroom is a sensitive area for me. Scale, mold, and hair are all things I strongly dislike, however, this building is brand new and very well-kept and tidy.

There were a total of three places to wash or go to the toilet.

Due to Mangrove Dongdaemun's environmental focus, no washing foam, toothpaste, or toothbrushes were given.

However, there was a good supply of shampoos, conditioners, and body washes.

Let's explore the other levels of this building.

 

- Basement

Flex Room

It's a place that can be used if you book it in advance.

 

Relax Room

It had a cinema theater where you could view movies, as well as a relaxation lounge called the Relax Room.

It seemed more suited to permanent occupants of a co-living space than short-term guests.

 

Mangrove Dongdaemun Souvenir shop

I liked the availability of vegan options, almond breeze, and low-calorie snacks, among other things.

 

Kitchen

 

Space like a library, so it seemed possible to read books or work on a laptop.

 

 

Canteen on the 15th floor

In this location, you have the option of preparing your meals or ordering takeout. Plus, the scenery is lovely.

Not many people were present, so the jazz bgm could be enjoyed in peace.

 

Rooftop

The Mangrove Dongdaemun's 16th-floor rooftop is not to be missed.

The humidity and temperature were ideal, and the sunset was breathtaking because we arrived right at that time.

I spent a lot of time taking in the beautiful scenery.

 

Advantages

- Really good value for money

- Clean and quiet

- Be kind

- Good purpose

- Can't hear the noise inside the room

 

Disadvantages

- Can easily hear outside noise (elevator, car)

- No toothpaste, toothbrush, foam cleaning, etc.?

- Only one socket in the bathroom, so I was concerned about the noise when using the hair dryer.

 

Conclusion

If you ask me if I want to come back, the answer is  "yes." Overall, I appreciated the spotless accommodations, and I would definitely consider returning in either a single or double-room configuration.
