Moxy Hotel Insadong (1 Double, Guest room)
Hotel Moxy Seoul Insadong is conveniently located in the heart of Jongno, placing guests within easy reach of countless restaurants, shops, and landmarks.
As part of the Marriott chain, the hotel carries the brand’s signature modern, stylish, and playful vibe, making it a great choice for both short and long stays.
There are two Moxy locations in Seoul, one in Insadong and the other in Myeongdong. Before my stay, I had read some negative reviews about the rooms being small and parking being tricky, but I decided to give it a try.
Floor guide
16F (Lobby)
Check-in and check-out take place at the Moxy Bar on the 16th floor, which gives the front desk a laid-back, bar-style aesthetic, definitely a unique touch!
One of the standout features of this hotel is its rooftop bar, also located on the 16th floor. From there, you can enjoy a breathtaking view of Namsan Tower, making it a perfect spot to unwind with an ice-cold beer on a sunny day.
The outdoor seating area offers a great view of Ikseon-dong Hanok Village, creating a unique contrast between modern and traditional Seoul.
#1403 Guest room, 1 Double (City view)
From my city-view room, I could see Ikseon-dong Hanok Village and Jongmyo Park in the background.
Though the room itself was small, the entryway was surprisingly spacious, which helped make the space feel less cramped. The hotel has a playful design, with pink accents throughout the room, including the trash bin, hairdryer, and bathroom amenities.
I took some time to explore Ikseon-dong Hanok Village, capturing the scenery both during the day and at night. The area’s narrow alleyways, charming cafés, and boutique shops create a trendy yet nostalgic atmosphere, making it a must-visit for anyone staying in the area.
1F Lounge
The first-floor lounge is exclusively for guests, accessible only with a key card. It’s a fun, cozy space, perfect for hanging out, playing board games, or just relaxing with friends.
From 6:00 pm to 7:00 am, the main entrance remains locked, so guests need their room key to enter or exit.
B1 Laundry and Locker
A 24-hour self-service laundry room is available in the basement. For 4,000 KRW, you can wash and dry your clothes, with detergent included. This is a great feature for long-term guests.
The free lockers can be used by requesting a PIN code from the front desk.
2F Breakfast, Lounge, Fitness center
A fitness center conveniently located across from the breakfast area
You need your room key to access the breakfast area, ensuring a secure dining experience.
A 24-hour lounge with a water purifier, coffee machine, and microwave
Despite its affordability, the hotel attracted many international guests, likely due to its prime location, reasonable prices, and easy access to public transportation.
Nearby Attractions
Thanks to its central location, the hotel is surrounded by plenty of must-visit spots.
1. Gwangjang Market
This iconic market is always buzzing with energy, no matter the day. I noticed a long line at the entrance for twisted doughnuts, proving its popularity!
2. Ikseon-dong Hanok Village
Located right in front of the hotel, this charming hanok village is a lively and trendy spot. Even on a weekday, the area was packed with visitors, and most of the popular restaurants were almost full.
3. Pagoda Park
I hadn’t visited Pagoda Park in a while, but it holds historical significance as the site where the Declaration of Independence was first read on March 1st during Korea’s Independence Movement.
4. Insa-dong
Insa-dong was as vibrant as ever, filled with visitors exploring its traditional Korean culture, crafts, and tea houses. Seeing people dressed in yellow hanbok was a beautiful reminder that spring was approaching.
5. Cheong-gye-cheon
After breakfast, I took a leisurely stroll along Cheonggyecheon. Despite the cold weather, it remains a beautiful place to walk, no matter the season.
6. Gwanghwamun Plaza
Overall, Hotel Moxy Seoul Insadong offers a stylish and comfortable stay in an incredibly convenient location. With numerous restaurants and attractions just steps away, it’s an excellent choice for travelers looking to explore Seoul on foot.
The staff was friendly, the hotel was well-maintained, and the modern yet playful interior gave it a unique charm. While the rooms were a bit small, the affordable rates and fantastic location more than made up for it.
