The Downtowner Burger that I revisited after almost a year! My hubby and I both love the Downtowner burger.  We usually visited the Hannam-dong location, but on that day we decided to check out the Anguk-dong location for the first time.

The Downtowner (Anguk), close to Jongno's Anguk Station, was decorated in Hanok (Korean traditional house) style. It's conveniently located close to Anguk Station Exit 2 and there's a famous Knotted Donut just next to it. Even better, there was no need to wait.

I remember waiting in the hot sunlight before eating when I went to the Hannam-dong location.

The inside has a traditional Hanok atmosphere as well. There is also a low table, but it is said that it is a table for a group of 6.

 

Menu

Every time I go to Downtowner Burger, I always have trouble choosing the menu. I always order the bacon cheeseburger and give serious thought to my other menu selections. If we hadn't had a dinner reservation, the two of us would have ordered three hamburgers.

We finally chose the Spicy Shrimp Burger (12.3), and the Bacon Cheese Burger (9.3). And added Magpie Lager (6.5) and Sweet Potato (6.9)

 

Magpie Lager  6,500 won

Started with a cold beer. Since the Downtowner is one of the few places I know that has Magpie draft beer, it's the one I always drink when I dine there.

Usually, I go for garlic butter fries, but I noticed sweet potato fries that day and decided to try them instead.

The Spicy Shrimp Burger was considerably bigger than the Bacon Cheeseburger.

 

Spicy Shrimp Burger  12,300 won

My husband and I have quite small mouths, so the extremely thick shrimp patty was a challenge to bite for us.

The spicy sauce is added to balance the greasiness, and there are both minced and whole shrimp inside. When my husband took one bite, he was blown away.

Until I tried the Downtowner Shrimp Burger, I was convinced that the shrimp burger sold at Smash Cheeseburger was the best. However, the shrimp burger at Downtowner is now my new favorite.

 

Bacon Cheese Burger  9,300 won

The bread is fantastic, and that's why I enjoy Downtowner Burger so much. Their burger buns are excellent. If shrimp burgers aren't your thing, try one of their cheeseburgers or bacon cheeseburgers instead!

While the Avocado Burger may have been a bestseller when Downtowner first opened its doors, the menu has since expanded to include a wide variety of options, including the more gourmet-sounding Truffle Burger.

 

Sweet Potato Fries  6,900 won

I prefer sweet potatoes to regular potatoes, and those were great. It's honey-drizzled, deep-fried sweet potatoes. The ones underneath were a little soggy and sugary, but still delicious. If you're getting tired of regular french fries, try the sweet potato fries instead.

The Downtowner burger is worth the wait. I definitely recommend it if you're searching for a great burger place close to Anguk Station.
