Tuk Tuk Noodle Thai
Michelin-starred small Thailand in Yeonnam-dong. The restaurant Tuk Tuk Noodle Thai.
Yeonnam-dong's Tuk Tuk Noodle Thai is well-known for its authentic Thai cuisine prepared by a chef who formerly worked in a five-star Bangkok hotel.
Seven years in a row, Michelin has recognized this establishment with its renowned Bib Gourmand award. Please, put up the sign for the year 2023.
Anyone who has walked around Yeonnam-dong will immediately recognize this Tuk Tuk vehicle. It is located a 15-minute walk from Hongik University Station! Despite what I had heard, Yeonnam-dong was still a very popular spot.
The restaurant's parking lot is conveniently located directly across the street.
On Sunday at about 12:30, I got there. There were three groups ahead of me.
The waiting machine is on the second floor, near the store's main entrance. After waiting for roughly ten minutes in the waiting area, the staff escorted us to the third level!
Inside
The colorful Thai-style tablecloth drew our attention as we were led up to the third floor.
There are plenty of seats, and the restaurant is large, so I didn't feel cramped. Perhaps it was because the third floor was relatively empty.
Tuk Tuk Noodle Thai has a tiny elevator that transports food from the kitchen to the dining areas on the second and third floors.
The tablet in the center of the table is for placing orders.
Dishes were brought out every two to three minutes.
Som Tam 13,000 won
Som tam is the first thing I order whenever I visit a Thai restaurant. It is a green papaya salad mixed with spicy and sour yam sauce!
Yeonnam Galbi Noodles 13,000 won
Yeonnam Galbi Noodles are the house specialty. Two juicy king ribs are served above the rice noodles and the Nuoc Mam Sauce comes together!
You can simply sprinkle the sauce over the ribs and then eat them. Crunchy bean sprouts and soft rice noodles were a great combination.
Even the broth was fantastic. It's slightly salty but very tasty!
Pad Thai Goong 13,000 won
And of course, no Thai meal would be complete without Pad Thai Goong! Pad Thai Goong is a dish of stir-fried noodles topped with shrimp and tamarin sauce.
Just mix it up and eat it.
Take a look at those fat shrimps. Pad Thai is another dish that I enjoy a lot. The slightly wet texture and egg flavor are both to my liking.
This high standard of flavor is what has led to Michelin's recommendation for the past seven years running. Tuk Tuk Noodle Thai has excellent Thai food. The wait time appears to be significantly shorter than it was previously, so hurry!
