
Fabrizio’s Kitchen
Today, I’d love to introduce Fabrizio’s Kitchen (Yongsan, Seoul), a restaurant run by Chef Fabrizio Ferrari, who became widely known after appearing on Netflix’s 'Culinary Class Wars'.
We had a small get-together recently, and after grabbing coffee with friends in Yongsan, we were strolling around wondering what to eat for dinner, and that’s when Fabrizio's Kitchen caught our eye!
There was a waiting list at the entrance, so we put our name down. It was a weekend, and we added our name around 4 pm, they called us back around 6 to say a table was ready!
Chef Fabrizio Ferrari ran a Michelin one-star restaurant in Italy for nearly 15 years. But then, he made the bold choice to leave that behind and move to Seoul, where he opened a casual Italian trattoria that feels much more like home.
Fabrizio's Kitchen is located in a lively neighborhood near Yongsan Station, an area well-known for its popular restaurants and stylish cafés.
The interior is smaller than you might expect—there are a few outdoor tables, but inside there are only about ten tables. The spacing between seats is generous, though, which actually made the dining experience feel calm and comfortable, not crowded at all.
Unfortunately, Chef Fabri wasn’t at the restaurant that day. I was hoping to see him in person, but maybe next time!
It wasn’t a fully open kitchen, but you could still see a good portion of the kitchen area, watching the chefs work added a nice sense of liveliness to the space.
The menu features a wide variety of pasta, along with antipasti and secondi (main dishes).
What really surprised me was the pricing; most dishes are in the 10,000 KRW range, which felt very reasonable for this level of quality.
You can conveniently place your order using the tablet on each table. Quick, easy, and no pressure.
They served warm ciabatta as the bread starter. Most Italian restaurants in Korea tend to mix balsamic vinegar into the olive oil, which I personally don’t love, but here, they served just olive oil on its own, and I appreciated that simplicity so much.
Gnocchi alla Romana 18,000 won
Made not from potatoes, but from semolina. It had a creamy, gratin-like texture—soft and rich, almost like comfort food with a Roman twist.
True to its name, it was made with Pecorino cheese, giving it that distinct aroma. I really enjoyed it at first, though it did start to feel a bit heavy after a few bites. Still, a lovely dish to share.
PPP Pasta 17,000 won
The restaurant’s signature dish, with ham and green peas. One side was dusted with pepper, the other with cheese, creating a fun visual (and flavor) balance. It’s made with conchiglie (shell-shaped pasta) and dressed in a creamy sauce reminiscent of Alfredo.
Risotto alla Pescatora 18,000 won
A seafood risotto in a rich tomato base. We were a bit worried we had ordered too many creamy dishes, but this one had a nice acidity and depth from the tomato, which kept things light and satisfying.
Salsiccia Carbonara 18,000 won
A traditional-style carbonara made without cream, using just egg yolk. It came topped with salsiccia (Italian sausage) and Pecorino cheese, served over rigatoni pasta. It was rich, savory, and had that bold Roman soul.
Spezzatino di Manzo 23,000 won
A slow-cooked beef stew simmered with tomatoes until unbelievably tender. The meat practically melted in the mouth, and dipping the accompanying bread into the rich tomato-beef sauce was just perfection. This dish was hands down one of my favorites of the night.
Filetto di Maiale alle Erbe 23,000 won
A tender pork tenderloin marinated in herbs and perfectly cooked sous-vide. It was melt-in-your-mouth soft, and when paired with the grilled vegetables and fragrant herb sauce, it became something truly special. This was my personal favorite of the evening.
While it’s not the kind of place for ultra-refined fine dining, I was genuinely impressed by how delicious and thoughtfully made everything was, especially at such reasonable prices.
If you come with friends or family, I definitely recommend ordering a few different dishes and sharing them all. It’s the kind of cozy, honest meal that just makes you feel good.
