Hoho Sikdang (Ikseon store)
I met up with my friends in Ikseon-dong to plan our upcoming trip to Japan. We decided to get together on the weekend and after searching for a restaurant that would take reservations, we settled on Hoho Sikdang.
One of our friends didn't want to wait outside in a hot summer, so she made a reservation through the Naver app.
Entrance
Because Ikseon-dong is made up primarily of narrow alleys, it was a bit of a challenge to find it. From Jongno 3-ga Station's Exit 6, you may go straight through Namdo Snack and Meal Toast. Coming from Jongno 3-ga Station's Exit 4, you'll most likely pass via Changhwadang.
Follow this road
The interior reminded me of walking inside a traditional Hanok (Korean traditional house).
Inside
The staff escorted us to the private room after I told him the name of the person who made the reservation. After showing us where to sit, he also told us that we had an hour to use the private room. When I saw that the food was brought out immediately after I placed my order, I figured that an hour would be plenty of time for everyone to eat.
The air conditioning made it possible to enjoy a meal even on a scorching summer day. In addition, this was a private area, so it was perfect for chatting with my friends.
It was convenient that the cutlery, plate, and wet tissue were all kept in their little containers off to the side, so I didn't have to call the wait staff every time I needed something.
Menu
The prices and menu items are listed on the first page of the menu, while the other pages provide a detailed explanation with pictures.
It was great because there was such a wide selection of foods to choose from.
Wine, Beers, and Highball!
Since takeout is an option, you can also enjoy your meal at a picnic near Cheonggyecheon.
Side dish
Omurice 14,000 won
I took a bite and found the sauce to be nicely sweet and the egg to be wonderfully fluffy.
Sake-don 17,000 won
The salmon rice bowl at Hoho Restaurant is one of my favorites since the raw salmon is so fresh.
The salmon is filled with rice, which is then topped with a bit of soy sauce and some seaweed.
Try it with some rice, salmon, a little soy sauce, and wasabi. The taste is superb.
Kaisen-don 23,000 won
My friend ordered this Kaisen-don. It is a dish with salmon, salmon roe, and uni over rice.
Karaage & French fries 18,000 won
We also got a side of Karaage and some French fries to share.
Having made a reservation in advance allowed us to have a relaxing and satisfying time at Hoho Sikdang.
