Hoho Sikdang (Ikseon store)
Last weekend, my friends and I met up in Ikseon-dong to plan our upcoming trip to Japan. Wanting a relaxing dining experience without the hassle of waiting, we chose Hoho Sikdang (Ikseon, Seoul) .
Entrance
Ikseon-dong is known for its maze-like narrow alleys, making it a bit of a challenge to find the restaurant. From Jongno 3-ga Station Exit 6, walk past Namdo Snack and Meal Toast, or from Exit 4, you'll likely pass Changhwadang. Once we found it, the effort was well worth it!
The moment I stepped inside, I was struck by the charm of the interior, reminiscent of a traditional Hanok (Korean traditional house).
Inside
After providing the name under which we made the reservation, the staff guided us to a private room, a perfect escape from the sweltering summer heat. The air-conditioned space allowed us to enjoy our meal comfortably, and the private setting was ideal for catching up with friends.
We were given an hour to use the private room, which turned out to be more than sufficient as the food was served promptly after placing our order.
Cutlery, plates, and wet tissues were neatly stored in containers to the side, eliminating the need to call staff repeatedly.
Menu
The menu was thoughtfully designed, with prices and a list of items on the first page, while subsequent pages included detailed descriptions with pictures.
Additionally, takeout options are available if you’d like to enjoy your food at a nearby Cheonggyecheon picnic.
Side dish
Omurice 14,000 won
The fluffy egg and sweet sauce made this dish an instant favorite. Every bite was comforting and delicious.
Sake-don 17,000 won
One of my all-time favorites at Hoho Sikdang! The fresh raw salmon paired perfectly with rice, soy sauce, and wasabi. A simple yet flavorful dish.
Kaisen-don 23,000 won
My friend ordered this rice bowl topped with salmon, salmon roe, and uni. The combination of fresh seafood flavors was simply superb.
Karaage & French fries 18,000 won
For sharing, we added this crispy, golden fried chicken dish with a side of French fries. Both were deliciously satisfying.
Thanks to the advance reservation, we were able to enjoy a relaxed and satisfying meal without the usual summer inconveniences. The combination of delicious food, thoughtful service, and the cozy, private setting made Hoho Sikdang an ideal spot for our gathering.
