Sancheong Sutbul Garden
A new, massive barbecue restaurant with a great reputation has recently opened up in Seoul.
In Magok Seoul, at the Sancheong Sutbul Garden, you can get the authentic grilled black pork of Jirisan (mountain). Even though it's a brand-new restaurant, the interior was designed to look rundown to give the impression of massive scale and atmosphere. Many people had already lined up in front of the store.
The tall ceilings and spacious seating area of the restaurant are immediately noticeable upon entry. It reminds me of a barbeque place in the Seoul suburbs that my family used to frequent when I was a kid.
The establishment has a well-designed kitchen area on one side where the meat and other foods are prepared. The interior is extremely unique compared to the standard barbecue places in Seoul.
The CEO, Jeong Dong-Woo, and Sekwang Green Food Ltd., the team behind popular Seoul eateries like Segwang Yangdaechang, Gyodae Eacheung-jib, Chunggiwa Town, and Mongtan, collaborated to launch this barbecue house.
Menu
We ordered Assorted pork, Gochujang pork, and Special assorted pork, as well as the Doenjang-jjigae (soybean paste stew) and fried rice.
For drinks; one Sancheong Highball, one Hadong Plum Wine, and a bottle of Jirisan Yakju Solsongju.
Our dining area was likewise very special in its way. Stone plates are set up one by one around a charcoal fire pit that sits in the center, creating a wholly retro ambiance.
Side dish
For side dishes, Pajeoli (green onion), Gat-kimchi, Pickled cucumber/radish, and potato salad.
Each person will have one serving of Dongchimi (white kimchi in cold broth), three types of pickled vegetables, cod roe sauce, wasabi, and salt.
Assorted Pork Plate 58,000 won (500g)
The meat of black pigs that were raised in a pure environment at the base of Mount Jiri has finally shown up.
The green onion that comes with the Pork was excellent. The flavor becomes greater if you grill it alongside and then put it over the meat.
First, begin with just salt. The juicy, tender pork will have a flavorful texture and chew.
You can enjoy pork in various combinations.
Special Assorted Pork 21,000 won (150g)
Includes two different kinds of pork cut. Hangjeongsal (left), and Deolmisal (right)
You should definitely try it with some wasabi and cod roe; it's absolutely delicious.
This Deolmisal was fantastic because of its excellent chewy texture.
The deliciously aromatic Dalrae-jangajji was a perfect complement to the meat.
Gochujang Marinated Pork 18,000 won (160g)
Instead of seasoning the meat ahead of time, the Gochujang seasoning was sprinkled on top of the raw meat before serving, resulting in tastier, more flavorful meat.
It's tasty on its own, but it is even better when dipped in that red sauce.
Solsongju had a refreshing clean taste.
Doenjang-jjigae (soybean paste stew) 8,000 won
Besides Korean beef, it also contains chili pepper, which gives it a nice kick, and black beans, which give it a rich, delicious flavor.
Fried rice 10,000 won
And fried rice is the perfect addition to a Korean barbeque. The fried rice was served on the lid of a little cauldron pot and comes with two fried eggs.
Even the fried rice was wonderful because of the addition of finely chopped pork and kimchi.
And free ice cream as dessert.
A variety of pork barbecues were served, and everyone had a great time in a setting unlike anything else you'll find in Seoul. Sancheong Sutbul Garden is a beautiful and unusual spot for Korean barbecue, so I hope you all have a good time there.
