Hwanggeum Kongbat
I looked for a restaurant that has tofu stew after giving some thought to healthy food choices. Everyone in the group agreed to go to Hwanggeum Kongbat, a restaurant that serves healthy tofu dishes.
Within a month of my first visit, I made a second trip since the Tofu dishes were so superb. I really like this restaurant since it uses healthful flavors that complement the ingredients' natural flavors.
Upon entering, you are met with a garden and an ambiance reminiscent of an old house. There was no wait when we arrived there at 5:30.

Menu
The menus are all mouthwatering. We started by placing an order for one Jjabak-Dubu and one Cheong-guk-jang.
Side dishes
Jjabak-Dubu (tofu stew) 36,000 won (medium)
The medium size of Jjabak-dubu with lots of meat in it. We also added some rice for each person. The food was so good that I could quickly finish a bowl of rice in no time.
Cheonggukjang (fermented soybean stew) 13,000 won
The Cheonggukjang was also delicious without having a strong smell.
My first experience was so good that I ended up bringing my coworkers thereafter recommending it to everyone I knew.
My Second visit
Side dish has been slightly changed. The addition of pickled cucumber and chili peppers made this dish different from the last time.
**Caution: chile peppers are extremely spicy and can cause flushing and watery eyes**.
Since there was wine corkage available at 15,000 won per bottle, we all brought our bottles.
Once again, we ordered Jjabak-Dubu, but this time the pork in it appears to be slightly smaller than the previous time.
Dubu-bossam (boiled pork with tofu) 46,000 won.
The staff suggested it as an excellent wine-pairing dish, so we placed this bossam dish accordingly. It comes with green onion kimchi as a side.
A little more time in boiling would make this bossam pork taste better, in my opinion. However, the green onion kimchi tasted excellent.
Saeng Dubu (fresh tofu) 16,000 won
The most impressive thing about this eatery was the fresh Tofu. Honestly, I've never had better fresh tofu than this.
Since all the food was so good, we couldn't stop ordering more and more.
Dubu Wanja (tofu pancake) 25,000 won
Another mouth-watering dish was the Tofu Wanja (Korean pancake).
When my friend came over to my house a while back, she brought this wine, which is called YEYA. The tofu dish went nicely with it, and the Chardonnay's acidity and multi-flavor profile made it a pleasant match.
Dubu-Jeon (pan-fried tofu) 20,000 won.
Can you make out the tofu's delicate texture in the center?
Green onion kimchi went so well with the tofu, so we asked for more of them.
This restaurant was a huge hit with its super delicious tofu dishes and everyone loved it. Two of my companions returned with their families. I am planning to return with my friends as well.
