Inamjang (main store)
Euljiro 3-ga has a wide variety of restaurants that appeal to all ages, and I'd like to highlight one of them, the seolleongtang restaurant Inamjang, which was featured on Seong Si-kyung's YouTube channel not too long ago.
'Inamjang', a seolleongtang restaurant with a 50-year history, can be found within 5 minutes of the Euljiro 3-ga Station's exit 1.
Six years ago, I visited the Samseong-dong location and learned about Inamjang, where I was pleasantly delighted to find a superb seolleongtang. I knew it was a popular restaurant because there was a long line the first time I visited the Samseong-dong location. I saw that many of the regulars were people from surrounding companies.
While I was staying at Lotte City Hotel, I was aware of the main store of Inamjang directly across from the hotel. When staying at the Lotte City Hotel, Inamjang is my go-to meal, even if it means skipping the hotel's complimentary breakfast.
Although I've never been to the main store of Inamjang for lunch, I can say that the place was not too busy either right when they opened or after 15:00 on a weekday.
Even better, the musty odor that permeated the place that was characteristic of older seolleongtang restaurants has been greatly reduced, however, it is still present. Nevertheless, that's part of what makes a restaurant with a long history so appealing.
I remember paying less than 20,000 won for a Seolleongtang (Large) when I was there before. Nonetheless, I wouldn't have gone to Inamjang if I only wanted regular-sized seolleongtang (12,000 won). I chose the large size of Seolleongtang.
Unfortunately, I was unable to order the Suyuk (boiled beef) on that day because I was by myself.
Cabbage kimchi, Radish kimchi, and soy sauce are served as side dishes.
Kimchi was delicious and just my style. The radish kimchi had a satisfying crunch without becoming mushy, while the cabbage kimchi was somewhat sweet and spicy with a refreshing taste.
To be considered an excellent Gukbap (Soup added with rice) restaurant, kimchi is all that is required; nonetheless, it must be wonderful.
You can take the flavor of this soy sauce anywhere you go. This eatery, though, is something exceptional.
Green onions are served separately so that diners can add as much or as little as they choose to their seolleongtang.
You can season your food to your liking with the salt, pepper, and red pepper powder provided at each table.
Seolleongtang (large) 20,000 won
Inamjang completely reformed my opinion of the seolleongtang. The seolleongtang from Inamjang is never too hot, and it's ready in just 5 minutes after you place your order. Beef soup can burn the roof of your mouth and tongue if it is too hot.
I always add green onion and pepper to my seolleongtang.
Cut the meat with a scissor into smaller pieces beforehand. The broth is very clear and the noodles and rice are already added to the soup, making this a little different seolleongtang than the kind you'd find at a franchise.
It was quite difficult for me to fight the desire to drink Soju. Pepper and green onion go great with the meat. As anticipated, the seolleongtang was incredibly supple and flavorful.
U-seol (beef tongue) in the seolleongtang of Inamjang is the secret ingredient. I had heard that beef tongue was included in the seolleongtang, and that's why I came here for the first time.
Cut it up into bite-sized pieces and enjoy with the sauce. U-seol (beef tongue) has an irresistible texture, a combination of softness and chewiness that makes it difficult to put down.
Every time I visit Inamjang, I feel like I'm putting on a lot of weight.
Even though it was long after lunchtime, many people of all ages and genders were eating, and there were especially many people enjoying Suyuk (boiled beef) or Seolleongtang paired with alcohol.
The high quality of seolleongtang served at Inamjang, as well as the ambiance of a restaurant with 50 years of history, are the restaurant's greatest strengths.
But pay 20,000 won for seolleongtang??
Sure, it's not cheap, no matter how much beef goes into the seolleongtang, but after you take a bite, you won't be thinking about the price for very long. This is one of the best seolleongtang restaurants.
