Le Freak Seongsu
In Seongsu-dong, you can find the popular Le Freak Seongsu, known for its delicious gourmet burgers.
The restaurant is conveniently located close to Seongsu Station's Exit 4.
Located in the basement of Bluestone Tower.
My boyfriend got there before me on Saturday since I worked late, but he said he had to wait a long time. I got there shortly after 2 p.m., but there were still seven or eight teams ahead of us, so we had to wait for a while.
The lunch line was cut off early because of the long wait before the break. (Takeout was available until 14:30)
Around 3 p.m., we were let in.
I visited here a year ago and enjoyed the burger very much, so I decided to come back this time.
The interior design is still luxurious. You'll feel like you've stepped into a high-end dining restaurant.
There are plates, glasses of water, wet wipes, and tissues in the center. Simply bring along whatever supplies you'll require.
The picture's partitioned table is the roomiest, and it's a nice spot to relax because it blocks the view.
Menu
There are two kinds of burgers available at this gourmet burger joint: the Signature burger and the Special burger (truffle chicken burger). A year ago, there were not the yellow "special menus" like the ones I see now.
We ordered a Signature Burger (11.8) / Truffle Chicken Burger (18.3) / Eggplant dish (7.8) / Dr. Pepper (3.0) / Sprite (3.0).
I had planned on only ordering the Signature burger, but the new Truffle chicken burger on the menu sounded irresistible.
When I initially visited, I was impressed with the warm, moist towel that was provided. It's not a single-use paper towel, and it's warm, so you may use it to clean your hands after eating fatty meals.
I got a Dr. Pepper since it pairs well with hamburgers, and he got Sprite.
Isn't the Le Freak Cup lovely, with its central logo? Also, there's a lime hidden under the ice, so there's a hint of lime flavor.
I bent a straw into a heart shape, but it didn't work well.
EGGPLANT 7,800 won
Baked eggplant covered with bolognese sauce, parsley, Grana Padano, and almonds.
I fell in love with this appetizer on my first visit, and I had to have it again to recollect the moment.
Previously, almonds were not included, this appears to have changed.
It's tasty, but a little too salty for my taste. To be honest, I could hardly taste the eggplant because of the salty ragu sauce.
Previously I enjoyed the mild flavor and tender texture, but the almond content made me feel somewhat unpleasant. Because of how much I anticipated it, I was a little down.
Truffle Chicken Burger 18,300 won
Smaller than I anticipated. Well-baked bread is topped with a mixture of black pepper sauce, cauliflower puree, balsamic shallots, raw truffles, and aioli, as well as truffle chicken, raw truffle, and truffle aioli.
Truffle's aroma and taste dominated the dish. The bread is meant to be dipped into the underlying cream sauce.
It looks incredibly delicious.
Bread is stuffed with a filling of chicken and truffles.
As far as menus go, this one was my favorite. It was the day's least salty dish, and the chicken, bread, truffle sauce, and cream sauce all blended wonderfully together. I wasn't expecting much, so I was pleasantly surprised by how tasty it was.
Signature burger 11,800 won
I was blown away by this menu I had here a year ago. The chicken is served hot on a freshly baked brioche bun with some pickles and coleslaw.
There are also three spicinesses to select from. I went with Option 2.
The hot and juicy chicken within gives it a tempting appearance.
Coleslaw is abundant, which is why I enjoy this menu.
Pickled properly, coleslaw retains a soft feel without becoming overly mushy. It complements the chicken beautifully, soaking up the greasiness while elevating the flavor.
Gourmet burger with a lot of stuff inside. Still, the food tasted great. Chicken that is juicy and flavorful, along with crunchy coleslaw, makes for a fantastic combination.
The food, however, was saltier than usual. It would have been a lot more enjoyable if it had been less salty. Maybe it was because of the busy weekend. Though somewhat disappointing, it's well worth the wait for its great food. I plan to return on a weekday when it is less busy.
I highly recommend Le Freak Seongsu if you're searching for a great place to have a gourmet burger in the Seongsu-dong area.
