Le Freak, located in Seongsu-dong (Seoul), is a popular gourmet chicken burger joint that’s only a short walk from Seongsu Station's Exit 4. This spot offers a sophisticated dining experience that attracts many burger enthusiasts, including me. This was my second visit, and after a fantastic meal here a year ago, I couldn’t wait to come back.

I arrived around 2 pm on Saturday, and the restaurant was already packed. My friend, who arrived earlier, had to wait quite a while as well. The lunch line was cut off early because of the long wait, but takeout was available until 2:30 pm. Fortunately, around 3 pm, we were finally seated. If you plan on visiting on weekends, be prepared to wait, and perhaps consider coming earlier or on a weekday when it's less crowded.

The interior design of Le Freak remains just as luxurious as I remembered. The space has a modern, upscale feel, almost like stepping into a high-end restaurant.

Menu

Le Freak offers two main burger options: the Signature Burger and the Special Burger, which changes from time to time. During my visit, the Truffle Chicken Burger was part of the special menu, which caught my eye. I initially planned to only order the Signature Burger but couldn’t resist trying the Truffle Chicken Burger as well.

EGGPLANT   7,800 won

The baked eggplant covered with bolognese sauce, parsley, Grana Padano, and almonds was a dish I had enjoyed during my previous visit. This time, I noticed a slight change. The addition of almonds, which was a nice touch, but it made the dish a little saltier than before. The eggplant, which I loved for its mild flavor and tender texture previously, was somewhat overshadowed by the saltiness of the ragu sauce. While still tasty, it didn’t quite match the memory of how good it was last time.

Truffle Chicken Burger  18,300 won

Next, I tried the Truffle Chicken Burger, which quickly became my favorite of the day. The combination of chicken, freshly baked brioche bun, pickles, and coleslaw was perfection. The Truffle aioli and cream sauce complemented the flavors wonderfully. The chicken was hot, juicy, and tender, and the coleslaw added a nice crunch without being too mushy. The burger's truffle aroma and flavor were pronounced, and the overall balance made it incredibly satisfying. I didn’t expect to enjoy it as much as I did, but it turned out to be the highlight of my meal.

Signature burger  11,800 won​

The Signature Burger, which I had also tried on my first visit, did not disappoint. It features juicy chicken, crunchy coleslaw, and a well-seasoned bun. While the flavor was great, the burger did end up a bit saltier than I remember, possibly due to the busy weekend rush. Even so, the combination of flavors made for a fantastic burger experience.

While I did find the food to be slightly saltier than usual during this visit, Le Freak still offers exceptional chicken burgers that are absolutely worth the wait. I’m planning to return during the week when it’s less crowded to fully enjoy the flavors without the extra salt. Whether you’re a local or visiting the Seongsu-dong area, Le Freak is the place to be for gourmet chicken burgers.
