Common Ground
If you’re looking for an exciting place to explore near Konkuk University Station, Common Ground (Seongsu, Seoul) is a top recommendation.
This vibrant complex, built entirely from shipping containers, offers a unique blend of shops, cafes, restaurants, and bookshops all in one convenient location. With ever-changing pop-up stores and plenty of picturesque photo zones, it’s a perfect destination for an outing with friends or family.
Located just 200 meters from Exit 6 of Konkuk University Station, Common Ground is hard to miss. As you step out of the station and walk straight, you’ll spot the striking assembly of shipping containers that make up this one-of-a-kind venue.
The facility consists of approximately 200 large containers, creating a rugged yet modern atmosphere that appeals to visitors of all ages. Even on a weekday, like the Thursday I visited, the place was buzzing with energy.

When I visited in September, the ground floor featured a pop-up store by Absolut Vodka. This temporary installation transformed the central corridor into a bustling hotspot, offering fun activities like cocktail-making workshops. It was one of the busiest photo zones that day and added an exciting touch to the overall vibe.

3rd floor: Restaurant / Cafe
In addition to pop-up stores, the first floor offers plenty of entertainment options, such as darts, arcade games, and claw machines. A popular bakery-café also caught my attention, where you can enjoy a variety of excellent breads and coffee.
You’ll also find a branch of the health & beauty store Olive Young on the first floor. Even without a specific shopping list, it’s always fun to browse through their wide selection of products.
2F (Clothing & Accesseries)
The second floor is a paradise for fashion lovers, with a mix of trendy clothing boutiques and vintage shops. If you take the time to look closely, you might stumble upon a hidden gem in one of the vintage stores.
Bütter shop
One highlight here is the Bütter shop, a charming stationery store offering a wide array of cute and functional items. It’s the perfect place to pick up a souvenir or something practical for everyday use.
3F (Restaurants & Cafes)
The third floor is where the magic of dining unfolds. Featuring a variety of restaurants and cafes, this level is perfect for taking a break after exploring the lower floors.
I was pleasantly surprised to discover Yellow, a European kitchen-style restaurant with a lovely outdoor seating area. From here, you can enjoy the fresh air and even access the Street Market via a bridge.
Street Market
The Street Market, connected via the third-floor bridge, adds another layer of excitement to Common Ground. Highlights include a massive Nike store spanning the first and second floors, offering everything from sneakers to sportswear.
For coffee lovers, the Index Shop is a must-visit. This cozy bookstore-café combo on the third floor is ideal for unwinding with a book and a cup of coffee. It’s more than just a shop, it’s an experience.
At the back of the square, you’ll find the OLO apparel store, which features a wide selection of trendy clothing at reasonable prices. Whether you’re shopping for casual wear or accessories, the Street Market has plenty to offer.
With its diverse range of shops, restaurants, and entertainment options, Common Ground provides a well-rounded experience that caters to everyone. Whether you’re snapping photos at the pop-up stores, indulging in delicious food, or browsing unique boutiques, there’s something new and exciting to discover at every turn.
