Free luggage storage lockers (The Hyundai Seoul, Yeouido)
While in Seoul last week, I stayed in Yeouido, so after checking out of my hotel, I headed to The Hyundai Seoul (department store). I considered leaving my luggage at the hotel, but I knew I would have to take the metro later on, so I opted to leave them in the storage locker at The Hyundai Seoul. The previous time I went there, I took advantage of their complimentary luggage storage which was so convenient.
Since The Hyundai Seoul first opened more than three years ago, the place doesn't appear to be as busy as it once was. Still, I went there around 10:30 in the morning just in case they didn't have an empty locker for my bags.
Location (Self Storage Locker)
The storage lockers are on levels B1, B3, and B4 of the department store. I was worried there might be a lot of weekend customers, so I arrived at their opening time; thankfully, there were plenty of empty lockers. This time, I was able to place it in a locker on the B3 floor without having to go to B4; however, the last time I visited on Sunday afternoon, there were no empty lockers, so I had to make the long way down to B4.
B1 Floor
Next to Camel Coffee and Paris Croissant on the B1 level are the lockers. The Paris Croissant Cafe is very visible due to its size. Additionally, the locker offers refrigeration space due to the presence of a food court on the B1 level. Next to the gift desk, close to Taylor Coffee and Osulloc Cafe, you'll also find more lockers.
B3 Floor
Next to the main escalator on the B3 level are the lockers. Upon descending the escalator adjacent to the Starbucks Reserve from the B2 level, you will immediately come to their location. Additionally, you can rent a mobile charger here.
B4 Floor
They are located in the same spot on the B4 level as they are on the B3 level. When I went there once at noon on a Saturday, I had to use a locker on the B4 floor since none of the others were available.
The locker on B3 was the one I used. Unless you visit on a busy weekend or public holiday, you shouldn't have much trouble finding a locker. If you intend to store a large suitcase, you should arrive early because there are only a limited number of lockers that can accommodate such items. On the first level, they also have a service for storing suitcases, so keep that in mind.
The locker was spacious and tidy, and it was perfect for stowing my belongings.
HOW TO USE
Using it is easy. The first step is to press the screen's Storage button (green) on the left. English, Korean, Chinese, and Japanese are the supported languages.
The availability of lockers is displayed when you press the storage button. The grayed-out lockers are the ones that are now being used; click on any other locker you want. The locker nearest the screen was the one I chose.
The locker will open once you input your mobile number and create a 6-digit password. Once you've put everything inside and closed the door, it will lock itself after a short while.
To find your belongings later, simply press the screen's Find button (orange) on the right, choose the locker number, and input your password. The locker door will open in the same way.
A message will be sent to the mobile phone number you provided at the screen once you have stored your stuff. You won't have to worry about losing them because it will inform you which locker they were kept in along with the password.
Having to move around with all that baggage was a pain, but the complimentary luggage storage facility made all the difference. You can use the lockers during the same hours that the department store is open.
The free and unlimited-use lockers were a huge relief since I usually carry a lot of stuff. Please feel free to use this post as a guide if you are seeking a convenient location at The Hyundai Seoul in Yeouido to store your items or luggage.
