Tteoksan (anguk store)
Tteoksan (Bukchon, Seoul) is a must-visit destination for Tteokbokki lovers. Famous for its unique take on this classic Korean dish, Tteoksan uses Garae-tteok, thicker cylindrical rice cakes that add a satisfyingly chewy texture to its signature dish.
After its success in Eunpyeong-gu, Tteoksan has expanded to Anguk-dong and even the Galleria Department Store. Conveniently located near Anguk Station (Exit 2), the eatery is a great spot for anyone exploring the Bukchon or Anguk areas.

The restaurant opens at 11:30 am, and given its popularity, there’s often a line of eager diners waiting outside before the doors open. With limited seating, enough for just two groups at a time there might be a short wait if you choose to dine inside.
Menu

Tteokbokki, Twigim (fried dish), Sundae (Blood sausage), Eomug-tang (fish cake soup), small Kimbap and etc.

The Eomug-tang is served piping hot and includes three varieties of fish cakes along with a tofu pouch, making it a hearty and comforting dish. The visual appeal of the boiling soup alone is enough to tempt diners.

Once inside, you’re greeted by the striking sight of a massive jar of Gochujang (red chili paste), which hints at the rich and flavorful Tteokbokki to come. Despite being a Bunsik (Korean snack food) eatery, the presentation and attention to detail elevate the dining experience, almost as if you're dining on royal palace cuisine.

The Twigim (fried dish) is served in a beautiful Sinseollo-style dish, reminiscent of ancient Korean royal cuisine, adding a touch of sophistication.

The Tteokbokki is the main attraction, and its thick Garae-tteok rice cakes truly steal the spotlight. When boiled for an extended period, the seasonings meld beautifully, creating a rich, bold flavor. The rice cakes are delightfully chewy, offering a texture that sets this dish apart from more common versions.

Tteoksan shines in its thoughtful array of dipping sauces, which include: Soy sauce for dipping fish cakes, Mustard sauce for dipping vegetable kimbap, and Ssamjang and Salt for Sundae.
The variety of flavors enhances each bite, and dipping Sundae into the Tteokbokki sauce is a particularly satisfying treat.

Despite its categorization as Bunsik, Tteoksan’s dedication to quality and presentation elevates the experience. The chewy texture of the Tteokbokki, the hearty flavors of the Eomug-tang, and the thoughtful sauces for the side dishes all come together to create a meal that feels both comforting and special.
Tteoksan is perfect for anyone craving authentic, chewy Tteokbokki and a memorable dining experience
