Bonanza Coffee (gunja store)
Bonanza Coffee, one of Europe’s top-five coffee brands and based in Berlin, has been a favorite among coffee enthusiasts. After the success of its first Korean store in the Myeong-dong area, Bonanza opened its flagship store in Gunja, Seoul a location conveniently within walking distance of my house. Naturally, I couldn’t wait to check it out!
Menu
On the day of my visit, the weather was beautiful, and many customers were enjoying their coffee outdoors in the open air. I was tempted to join them, but my mom insisted we stay inside due to the dusty air.
Bonanza Coffee’s Gunja store spans two floors. The café was bustling with staff, likely because the menu offers brunch options in addition to coffee.
We chose to sit on the first floor, where the air felt cooler and fresher compared to the second floor, which was a bit warm due to the closed windows and crowd. The café’s large space made it easy to find a comfortable spot, though.

The café’s brunch menu looked amazing, especially the sandwiches, but I didn’t try any since my mom wasn’t keen on me ordering food. I’m already planning to come back with my sister or friends to fully enjoy the brunch offerings next time.
Americano 4,800 / Vanilla Latte 6,000
Since I’m not a coffee expert, I found the flavor to be normal, but still enjoyable. Compared to Starbucks, Bonanza Coffee’s brew had a milder acidity and less bitterness, making it a smooth choice for casual coffee drinkers.
Second floor
The second floor has been thoughtfully designed with a laptop zone, catering to students from the nearby Sejong University and Konkuk University. The spacious and open layout, combined with large tables, made it an ideal spot for studying or working.
On my way out, I noticed a display of Bonanza Coffee merchandise near the entrance.

One standout feature of the café is its dedicated roasting area, ensuring the coffee beans sold here are fresh and of high quality. If you’re interested in purchasing beans, just ask the cashier for prices.
Bonanza Coffee Gunja offers a relaxed and spacious atmosphere, perfect for enjoying a quality cup of coffee or a leisurely brunch. With its two floors, laptop-friendly zone, and dedicated roasting process, it’s a fantastic addition to the neighborhood.
