Gabaedo
Located in a historic Hanok-style building dating back to the Japanese colonial period, Gabaedo (Namdaemun Market store) is the only remaining shopping center from that era in downtown Seoul. This unique space blends history with modern retail, offering visitors a one-of-a-kind shopping and café experience.
Since its launch in September 2017, Gabaedo has expanded to six locations across Seoul, including Myeongdong, COEX, and Gangnam.

On the first level, you’ll find a wide selection of merchandise

One of the highlights of this store is the traditional Korean sweets section, where you can purchase treats by weight. This seems to be a popular souvenir choice among international visitors.

Upstairs, there’s a café space where you can relax and enjoy coffee and sweets.
Despite being crowded with customers, I was lucky enough to find a seat without waiting. The antique wooden furniture and red brick walls create a warm and inviting atmosphere, making it the perfect spot to take a break from shopping.

Together, it evokes the image of a cozy little coffee island right in the heart of the city, a perfect escape amidst the bustling streets of Seoul.
