Holang-I (seochon store)

Famous for its delicious lattes in Euljiro, Holang-I (Tiger) Coffee has now opened a new location in Seochon (Seoul) bringing its signature flavors to a fresh, new space.

We initially thought the café opened at 12 pm, even on weekends, but upon arrival, we found out it actually opens at 1 pm. The staff kindly offered to let us wait inside, but not wanting to be a bother, we decided to explore the area and return at the right time.

Unlike the Euljiro location, the Seochon branch doesn’t display the name ‘Holang-I’ (Tiger). Instead, the sign simply reads ‘Latte’, a subtle nod to what this café does best.

The interior had a cave-like feel, almost like a hidden retreat. The space was small yet intriguing, with walls made of unique materials. The moment I stepped in, an unfamiliar yet distinct scent filled the air.

I later found out that the walls are made of ‘Hempcrete’ , a sustainable concrete alternative created from hemp hurds. This eco-friendly material absorbs carbon, which explains the unusual scent.

I was hoping to try the adorable strawberry sandwich that’s available at the Euljiro location, but unfortunately, it wasn’t on the menu here.

The staff told us they were free to take the Tiger pencils, so we each grabbed one as a little keepsake.

The classic Horangi Latte - Made with blended beans, this latte has a nutty, creamy flavor that perfectly balances the natural sweetness of the milk. I’ve had it iced before, but this time, I tried the warm version and it was just as amazing.

The Horangi Single Latte - This version, made with Ethiopian single-origin beans, had a lighter, more fragrant profile compared to the classic latte. It was clean, smooth, and absolutely delightful.

While sipping our drinks, we watched the barista skillfully brew filter coffee.

To our surprise, he kindly offered us a cup of Ethiopian single-origin iced coffee. It was incredibly smooth and aromatic, an absolute treat.

Compared to the Euljiro location, the Seochon branch has a completely different atmosphere. The unique hempcrete walls gave the space a fresh, airy feel, making the visit even more memorable.

While I did miss the fruit sandwiches, the exceptional coffee and calming ambiance made up for it. Simply enjoying the drinks in this space was more than enough, I left completely satisfied.
