Jayeondo Salt Bread (Seongsu store)
The Jayeondo Salt Bread is famous for its freshly baked, buttery salt bread. Following Ikseon-dong (Seoul), they have now expanded to Seongsu, making it more accessible to bread lovers in the area.
Unlike the Ikseon-dong location, where seating is available, the Seongsu branch is strictly for takeout.
The ordering process at Jayeondo Seongsu is unique.
Place your order at a kiosk and receive a voucher. Pick up your bread at a separate location using the voucher.
There’s only one option on the menu, a set of four salt breads. Each batch is baked fresh six times a day, with a daily limit of 7,000 pieces. Here are the baking times:
9:00 AM / 12:30 PM / 2:00 PM / 3:30 PM / 5:00 PM / 6:30 PM
I stopped by around 10:30 AM on a weekend and was lucky enough to grab a batch from the 9:00 AM bake.
At first glance, it looks like a plain salt bread, but the flavor is incredible. I could immediately understand why Jayeondo is so famous.
Each store features a cauldron filled with salt, emphasizing their use of high-quality ingredients. High-quality Canadian wheat, French butter, and French sea salt are used.

I was tempted to buy multiple packs, but the staff recommended eating them fresh on the same day for the best experience.
I haven’t had a lot of salt bread in my life, but this was by far the best I’ve ever tasted.
"100 ingredient tests and 1000 baking trials were done"
If you love salt bread with a rich butter flavor, this is a must-try. Perfectly crispy when eaten fresh, chewy like white bread the next day.
Since Ikseon-dong was a bit far for me, I was excited to hear about the Seongsu opening. The bread was even better than I expected, packed with buttery richness and a perfectly balanced saltiness.
Many places offer "salt bread," but some merely sprinkle salt on top. Here, the salt infuses the bread itself, creating an unbelievably flavorful experience.
If you're in Seongsu, don’t miss out on this incredible salt bread!
