Molto Italian Espresso Bar
Located directly across from Myeongdong Cathedral is the espresso-focused cafe Molto Italian Espresso Bar. A cafe can be found on the third-floor terrace of the building. Across the street lies the stunning Myeongdong Cathedral, and the espresso is delicious, too.
There are limited outside seats, so there may be a wait if you choose to sit outside. It was very busy when I went on a weekday at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
There are several other beverages available besides espresso, such as the americano, latte, and vanilla latte. While the bakery selection is limited, the Italian dessert Cannonccini is available. For a full coffee experience, I got an espresso, a caffe sale, and a Cannonccini (custard flavor).
Only bar tables and order counters are inside. The inside seating is rarely occupied because people come to this cafe to take in the scenery.
It has the feel of a European sidewalk cafe, and the view of Myeongdong Cathedral is breathtaking. It's the ideal cafe for the kind of warm weather we're having right now.
I got a seat right up front, so I could see Myeongdong Cathedral in all its glory. The Cannonccini and espresso appear to be tasty as well.
Espresso 4,000 won
Given the surrounding landscape, I wasn't anticipating much of a coffee flavor, but this was quite tasty. Leesar's Coffee, in Seoul, served the best espresso I had in Seoul, and this is on par with that.
The coffee's flavor and mildness come through even without sugar, and a touch of acidity keeps things interesting. The more espresso I drink, the more I'm going to appreciate the flavor.
Caffe Sale 4,800 won
Caffe Sale is a frothy espresso beverage topped with a pinch of salt and some whipped cream. The whipped cream balances the bitterness of the coffee with its mild sweetness and delicate texture. Adding a pinch of salt brings out the full flavor.
The flavor is superb. I can enjoy this type of espresso every day without getting tired of it.
Cannonccini (custard) 3,200 won
The Cannonccini were baked to a crisp, and their sweet custard paired wonderfully with the espresso.
Except for the overwhelming amount of customers, Molto Italian Espresso Bar was a perfect cafe. Myeong-dong Cathedral catches the eye, and the tasty coffee makes the mouth happy, too.
Before the summer heats up too much, it would be wonderful to take a getaway. This is one of the cafes in Seoul that I visited recently and am eager to suggest to others.
