Courtyard by Marriott Seoul (Namdaemun)
We spent last weekend in the Courtyard by Marriott Seoul (Namdaemun), and here I'll tell you all about it.
Around 300,000 won was spent on this special offer. The package deal included happy hour, breakfast, and a room with a view of Namsan, so I couldn't resist booking it.
Sungnyemun (Namdaemun) is close to the hotel, and both City Hall Station and Hoehyeon Station are within easy walking distance. We considered taking public transport but ultimately decided to drive.
The hotel's check-in time was 3 p.m., but we got there at 5 p.m. Thankfully, there was parking available on the hotel's B3 level. The hotel informed us the day before that they would direct us to an off-site parking spot if their lot was full. In addition, we were cautioned to drive slowly due to the parking lot's tiny aisle.
The hotel's lobby is located here on the second floor. We arrived 2 hours after check-in had begun, so perhaps that was why we were given a room on the 15th floor instead of a higher one.
Room
Have a look at the inside of the room. The room has a basic, contemporary vibe. It was nice to see two double beds that appeared to be very comfortable.
Namsan view
We enjoyed a great view of Namsan Tower, as promised by our room's description.
Room conveniences
Room controller
When comparing the room controls at several places, this one stands out as my favorite. It's usually only available in English, so this picture-based explanation helped.
Bathroom
Towels, soap, shampoo, conditioner, toothbrush, and toothpaste are all given.
Through the bathroom window, you can see this space. The entire room is visible from the bathroom without closing the blinds.
Executive Lounge
Twenty minutes had passed since the beginning of the weekend Happy Hour, so I left the room and headed straight for the Executive Lounge on the 22nd floor.
There's a free buffet during happy hour. Although the menu is limited, wine and beer are complimentary.
The cheese, takoyaki, and green bean stir-fry were my favorites. As there wasn't any room at the window table for two, we found a spot where we could sit side by side and still enjoy the view.
From the lounge, you can see Sungnyemun (Namdaemun) below you. I'd like to stay in a room that overlooks Sungnyemun Gate on my next visit.
The view of Namsan Tower at night was breathtaking when I got back to the room.
After eating, we went for a stroll in Sungnyemun, the district across the street from the hotel. Even though I've seen Sungnyemun Gate many times before, this was my first time exploring the area around it.
I also snapped a shot of the hotel as seen from the Sungnyemun side.
Following a little stroll, I made my way back to the hotel for a restful evening and night.
Morning buffet at Momo Café
At 7:30 in the morning, I awoke and headed straight to Momo Café for some breakfast. We were seated in a window seat without having to wait. Although the buffet was small, both Korean and Western dishes were available.
Namsan Tower appeared fuzzy when I returned to my room and opened the curtains, possibly because of the fine dust.
Nonetheless, the openness and size of the window made it a pleasant experience. We had a great time chatting and looking out the window.
In the Courtyard Marriott Seoul Namdaemun, we had a pleasant stay overall. In the future, I hope to visit the room with a Sungnyemun (Namdaemun) View.
