Fairmont Ambassador Seoul (Twin, Deluxe)
My mother and I took a trip to Fairmont Ambassador Seoul to celebrate my graduation earlier this month. My friend recommended this place to me, and it turned out to be a fantastic staycation spot.
The first thing you'll notice is the excellent location. You can easily reach the underpass that connects The Hyundai Seoul with the Yeouido subway station on foot. It's convenient for a staycation because of its proximity to IFC Mall and The Hyundai Seoul (Department store).
It's beautiful inside and out, with lofty ceilings and marble floors. The front desk is on the small side in comparison to the rest of the lobby, giving it a slightly Hong Kong vibe.
Check-in 3 pm / Check-out 11 am
We were still allowed to check in early, around two hours before check-in time, because the room had already been cleaned.
Deluxe Room (16F)
This room appears to be the simplest possible. I would strongly suggest taking advantage of any deluxe room plus breakfast deals that may be available.
Deluxe Room (Twin Beds)
The hotel is located in the middle of Seoul and is brand new; the rooms were also very spacious. I expected a little room, therefore it came as a pleasant surprise when it was larger than those at most 5-star hotels.
My mom and I were able to sleep comfortably on both of the twin beds because they are roughly the size of a double bed, which is larger than a super single.
The room did not have a really pleasant view.
Maybe it's just the room I was given, or maybe this is the kind of hotel where you shouldn't expect a view, all I could see out my window was a bunch of buildings and/or construction sites.
Nespresso capsules and two bottles of mineral water are included at no extra cost.
The bathroom is behind the sliding door.
The toilet and shower are located in a separate room.
Toiletries are from Le Labo. Even though Rose isn't my favorite, Le Labo Rose 31 wasn't bad. Subtle rose aroma, not overpowering.
My mother and I loved the room slippers provided by the Fairmont Ambassador Seoul. Although disposable, the high quality left us impressed.
Fairmont Fit (B1) - Fitness center / Indoor Pool
The pool and fitness center are located on Floor B1, and as soon as you walk in, a member of staff will ask for your room number and show you the way.
If you don't bring your swimming cap, you'll need to buy one before entering the pool.
Fitness Center
Water and towels are provided at the entrance.
When compared to other hotels, this one has the best fitness center. Although the Incheon Paradise City Hotel was larger overall, this location offers a wider selection of fitness options.
Technogym
Large equipment is also available for the chest, shoulders, and legs. The hotel is quite new, so perhaps that explains why the exercise machines are so spotless and modern.
Indoor Pool (No outdoor Pool)
To maintain a healthy pool environment, swimming caps are required. Since neither my mother nor I brought them, we had to buy them for 10,000 won each.
The pool was peaceful; the lack of other swimmers was likely because it was a weekday. Five or six times, my mother and I paddled back and forth on a kickboard. This experience made me want to start taking swimming classes.
Due to its diminutive size, the sauna is not worth the additional cost.
The atmosphere at the Fairmont Ambassador Seoul Hotel is fantastic in the evenings. For dinner, we walked to the IFC shopping center.
Breakfast buffet
There will be no need to stand in line because the hall is spacious and has plenty of seats.
The breakfast buffet was excellent and the food selection was incredible.
And for breakfast, they serve roast duck. The breakfast buffet has the same roast duck that guests might expect to find at the dinner buffet.
The duck was quite tasty. It has a similar texture to Cantonese roast duck, without being too dry, and the skin was wonderfully crisp.
Conclusion
Staying at the Fairmont Ambassador Seoul was a pleasant change from my usual Seoul hotel routine because of its convenient location, attractive design, and spacious rooms. While I enjoyed the hotel's fitness center, pool, and complimentary breakfast buffet, my only complaint was the poor view from my room. The other room appears to have an open view, thus it's unlikely that this is a hotel-wide issue.
I enjoyed my time there very much and hope to return.
