Earlier this month, my mother and I took a trip to Fairmont Ambassador Seoul to celebrate my graduation. A friend had recommended the hotel, and it turned out to be an excellent staycation spot.

One of the standout features of this hotel is its fantastic location. It’s within walking distance of an underpass connecting The Hyundai Seoul to Yeouido Subway Station, making it extremely convenient for getting around. Its proximity to IFC Mall and The Hyundai Seoul (a major department store) also makes it ideal for a relaxing staycation.

The hotel is stunning both inside and out, featuring high ceilings and marble floors that give off an elegant vibe. The front desk is relatively small compared to the grand lobby, which almost gives it a Hong Kong-style feel.

Deluxe Room (16F)

We stayed in a Deluxe Room on the 16th floor, which appeared to be the most basic option. If you’re considering a stay, I’d highly recommend looking out for deals that include breakfast, as they offer great value.

Since the hotel is fairly new and centrally located, I had expected the room to be quite small. To my surprise, it was spacious, larger than rooms at most 5-star hotels in Seoul.

The twin beds were also a pleasant surprise, as they were roughly the size of double beds, larger than a typical super single allowing my mom and me to sleep comfortably.

Unfortunately, the view from our room was underwhelming. It might have just been the room we were assigned, but all I could see were surrounding buildings and construction sites.

Toiletries from Le Labo.  Although I’m not a big fan of rose scents, I found the Le Labo Rose 31 fragrance to be subtle and not overpowering

One small detail we appreciated was the room slippers. Even though they were disposable, they were high quality and surprisingly comfortable.

 

Fairmont Fit (B1)  - Fitness center / Indoor Pool 

The fitness center and indoor pool are located on B1. Upon entering, a staff member asks for your room number before directing you inside.

 

Fitness Center

Compared to other hotels, this fitness center is one of the best. While the Paradise City Hotel in Incheon might have a larger facility, Fairmont Ambassador Seoul offers a wider selection of workout equipment.

There’s an impressive variety of machines, including those for chest, shoulders, and legs. Since the hotel is relatively new, all the equipment is spotless and modern.

 

Indoor Pool (No outdoor Pool)

Swimming caps are required for hygiene reasons. Since neither my mom nor I brought one, we had to purchase them for ₩10,000 each before entering.

The pool was peaceful, likely because it was a weekday, so there weren’t many other guests. There is also a sauna, but given its small size, I wouldn’t say it’s worth the additional cost.

The hotel’s evening atmosphere is fantastic, making it a great place to unwind. For dinner, we decided to take a short walk to IFC Mall, where we had plenty of dining options to choose from.

 

Breakfast buffet

One of the highlights of our stay was the breakfast buffet. The buffet spread was incredible, offering a wide variety of options.

Staying at Fairmont Ambassador Seoul was a refreshing change from my usual hotel stays in Seoul. Its prime location, stylish design, and spacious rooms made for an enjoyable experience.

While I loved the fitness center, pool, and excellent breakfast buffet, my only disappointment was the room’s lackluster view. That said, other rooms seemed to have a better outlook, so it’s likely not a hotel-wide issue.

Overall, I had a wonderful stay and would love to return in the future!
