Bomulseom Kimbap

Bomulseom Kimbap

Whenever I visit Mangwon Market, I make it a point to stop by Bomulseom Kimbap (Mangwon, Seoul), a charming little kimbap joint that also offers vegetarian options. While I’m not vegetarian myself, their unique take on kimbap always draws me in.

The shop is located just a short walk from Mangwon Market, easy to spot on the left-hand side.

Their kimbap varieties are neatly labeled with stickers for easy identification, making it simple to find exactly what you’re craving.

As soon as I placed my order, the staff began wrapping the kimbap. They handed me the Ddangcho Kimbap (chili pepper) first, followed by the Bomulseom Kimbap, which features fried tofu and burdock root for a veggie-forward twist.

Since there’s no seating inside, the kimbap is strictly for takeout. But that’s part of the charm, it’s perfect for enjoying on the go or taking home to savor.

The standout feature of the Bomulseom Kimbap is that it’s wrapped in warm, perfectly seasoned rice right after you order.

The balance of ingredients is flawless: the rice is just the right amount, and the fried tofu and burdock root take center stage without being overpowered by extras like radish, carrot, or egg.

This kimbap feels thoughtfully crafted, letting the simplicity of its ingredients shine through.

As a fan of spicy food, I couldn’t resist trying the Ddangcho Kimbap.

It features a mild kick from the chili peppers, complemented by two slices of ham. Compared to other spicy kimbap I’ve had, the flavor here is lighter, which I found refreshing on a hot day.

The sizes of the two Gimbap varieties are pretty much the same, and they’re both filling enough to make a satisfying meal.

Kimbap, in general, is a dish that’s hard to mess up, but Bomulseom Kimbap elevates it with their careful attention to flavors and textures. Whether you’re a kimbap enthusiast or a casual fan, this spot is well worth a visit next time you’re near Mangwon Market.
