Cheonha Bossam
Some of my Japanese friends just came to see me in Korea.
We were first planning to visit a well-known Bossam (boiled pork dish with kimchi) joint in Euljiro, but we heard the lines are always too long. So, we changed our plans and headed to Cheonha Bossam, a popular spot near Anguk Station.
From where we were, I just searched for a nearby restaurant that served Bossam, and one called "Cheonha Bossam" caught my eye.
Since the reviews were good and the pictures of the food looked tasty, I thought my Japanese friends would also enjoy it.
The ambiance was a very authentic local vibe. There are fancier locations we could go to, but my Japanese friends had been to Korea more than 30 times and wanted somewhere locals go instead of where lots of tourists go.
This spot looked like a very famous eatery with long lines all the time, but we were able to get in right away.
We arrived on Thursday around 6 o'clock. Come about 5 p.m. when the break has just ended or around 6 p.m. when the first diners who came in at opening time finish eating and leave. That's when it's best.

With the reasonable prices, delicious food, and cozy local vibe, it was a fantastic spot.
My friend also enjoyed this place since there was an entire section of the wall filled with autographs of K-drama stars. They were also excited to hear that Jeon Jae-joon, star of the K-drama [The Glory] on Netflix, had also signed an autograph.

Amazingly, each meal included Doenjang-Jjigae (soybean paste stew).
This is how one serving looks with kimchi and pork together on one plate,
from two servings are served with meat and kimchi separately
My Japanese friends loved the kimchi despite my worries that it would be too spicy; it was crunchy and flavorful without being overly spicy.
It was absolutely mouth-watering, with the top layer consisting of juicy pork with fat and the bottom layer consisting only of lean meat.
According to my buddies, it was so tasty that they immediately posted it to Instagram.
If you prefer a casual dinner with international friends like me rather a more formal gathering, I strongly suggest this place.
Cheonha Bossam is conveniently located near Changdeokgung Palace and Anguk Station. If you find yourself in the area, don't miss out on visiting this delectable Bossam spot.
