Daedo Sikdang (main store)
On our way to the theater, my friend and I decided to stop by Daedo Sikdang (Wangsimni, Seoul) for lunch. It had been a long time since my last visit, and I was excited to return.
The main branch of Daedo Sikdang has two buildings, and we were guided to the east building.
This restaurant has been recognized as a future heritage site in Seoul, so we walked in with high expectations.
The atmosphere surprised me. Thanks to recent renovations, it felt more like a high-end Korean restaurant than a traditional barbecue joint. The modern yet classic vibe added to the anticipation of our meal.
Side dish
Hanwoo Deungsim (sirloin) 46,000 won (per serving)
We started with four portions of Hanwoo sirloin, but it was so delicious that we had to order two more.
The meat was incredibly tender and full of rich flavor. As always, Korean beef barbecue never fails to impress. Whether lightly grilled or cooked to perfection, every bite was heavenly.
Kkakdugi Bokkeumbab (kimchi fried rice) 5,000 won (per serving)
To round out the meal, we ordered three servings of their famous kkakdugi fried rice.
This is an absolute must-try. The combination of perfectly seasoned kimchi, fried rice, and crispy edges was unforgettable. Even if you’re not familiar with it, you’ll love it. It’s that good.
Daedo Sikdang lives up to its reputation as a Korean BBQ institution. Its long history and consistently outstanding food explain why this restaurant has remained so beloved for decades.
While I’ve visited the branch near Samseong Station several times, this was my first time at the main location. It exceeded my expectations in every way.
