Gohyang Kalguksu (gwangjang market)
Korea-related cultures, including music, beauty, and video, are currently gaining popularity on a global scale. Food is also receiving a lot of love these days, and the menu has expanded significantly.
The K-Food Gohyang Kalguksu, which Netflix also paid attention to, shall be introduced.
I entered after parking on the Cheonggyecheon side. You can use the five-minute drive away parking lot at Jongmyo after dinner time.
From Euljiro 4-ga Station or Jongno 5-ga Station, it takes around 5 minutes to walk to Seomun Gate.
Keep going straight and go to the square. The calm shopping street now appears strange.
A fancy eating area will be revealed if you keep going in the direction of the east entrance. When the summertime arrives, it will be much busier.
You may view Gohyang Kalguksu if you go a little to the right. There are also many foreigners around.
After being shown as a restaurant in Seoul in the 2019 Netflix series "Street Food," this location rose to fame.
Let's begin with some iced tea. We can notice that they even care about water.
There were numerous different menus. Because the photographs are huge, even foreigners may place orders with ease.
Foreigners were adept at using chopsticks, and some even knew how to express gratitude in Korean.
Provide rubber bands so that women can tie their hair up.
It has been kept tidy and clean. The three individuals who worked on the Gohyang Kalguksu got along well.
The seating is set around the kitchen, and it was wonderful to see the cooking process from the front seat.
Her rhythmic motions demonstrate her talent.
a setting where even silver trays are used as decorations.
two side dishes Kimchi and Yeolmu are provided. It was excellent that neither was sour and that both maintained their crispness well.
Dumpling kalguksu was made with anchovy stock as the base, so the soup was not greasy which was excellent for me.
Inconsistent handmade noodles make the food more appetizing.
One kimchi dumpling and one meat dumpling inside. Since they are handmade dumplings, it was quite chewy and very delicious.
"Yeolmu-mul-guksu" was my order. My mouth was watering as I watched the ice float on the soup.
Although Kalguksu was tasty, I preferred these noodles. The texture was excellent because the medium-thickness noodles were used and correctly cooked.
A friendly atmosphere might help you have a better experience at Gohyang Kalguksu.

I called Gwangjang Market today,
and they said that all the shops are closed during the holiday (21st~24th Jan), but the restaurants/food places are open.
Still, I think it’s better to avoid the 22nd, the day of the Lunar New Year’s Day.
Hello, the 21nd through the 24th of January is a public holiday in Korea.
Unfortunately, I can’t call this kalguksu restaurant because there isn’t a phone number listed.
Reviewers have stated that only around half of the stores in the Gwangjang market opened last year during the Lunar holiday.
Especially on January 22, most businesses will be closed in celebration of the Lunar New Year.
When I get more information, I will share it with you.
Happy new year!
Do they open on January 22-24 ?
