Kiwa Taproom
A hook-style pub hidden in the alleys of the Samcheong area. Delicious snacks and craft beers can be enjoyed while looking up at the sky from the wooden veranda.
Hanok-style craft beer pub Kiwa Taproom is among the best places to sit on the veranda and taste several different kinds of craft beer while viewing the sky beyond the rooftops.
Located in the peaceful alleys of the Sogyeok-dong, this pub is a lovely spot for beer and a little bite near Anguk station. It is also a good idea to bring foreign friends or parents.
Location
From either Anguk or Gyeongbokgung Station, it's about a ten-minute walk in the direction of Samcheong-dong to reach the Kiwa Taproom, located behind the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art (MMCA).
I've been walking down this street from Gwanghwamun for over a decade, and it's always pleasant.
Wait / Takeout
Because it is a popular small store, there is sometimes a line. If you can't wait, you can take craft beer home with you.
Kiwa Taproom is located in a quiet alley where only a few people pass. Sometimes the owner will offer you a free beer like this if you sit on the bench outside and wait.
If you don't want to wait, you may order takeout and enjoy it at home!
Inside / Atmosphere
An old traditional hanok has been converted into a pub that has a pleasant atmosphere.
Both the veranda and the table seats under the rafters are good. In particular, the sky seen between the roofs is beautiful.
People sitting in groups to enjoy beer and having conversations under soft lighting is another one of my favorite sights. It's busy, but not chaotic; in fact, it's quite relaxing. A lovely place, for sure.
It's great to be back after visiting at the end of the summer with my good buddy. Never had a bad time here, it's great to visit in any season.
There are also tables inside where you can sit next to each other.
Selling cans of craft beer and some adorable coasters with graphic designs.
Menu
Craft beers at KiwaTaproom cost between 7,000~8,000 won. Prices for guest beers including Stout, Stella, Somersby, and others range from 8,000 to 12,000 won. Prices for wine are 50,000~70,000 won, which is very affordable.
Although there aren't many snack options, I frequently go with buffalo wings.
One of my favorite characters from Euljimaekok. It's me, the office worker drowning in a glass of booze.
Although I like lagers, I chose the Orange Bianco on this particular day since I wanted an acidic beer for the summer. We recommend lager for individuals who don't enjoy the strong aroma of Pale Ale or IPA.
I always get buffalo wings because the sour spicy sauce flavor is very satisfying and the dip that comes together is also good. Belgian-style fries are included.
