These days, it is pleasant to dine outside on a terrace with a gentle breeze.

You-jin Sikdang, located near Tapgol Park in Jongno 3-ga, is well-known for Pyeongyang naengmyeon and crispy Nokdu-jijim. Setting up the blue plastic tables outside the restaurant and enjoying good food is fantastic.

It is located a one-minute walk from Jongno 3-ga Station's Exit 5.

It's tasty, and the environment is pleasant, which is why I returned to You-jin Sikdang two weeks in a row.

Even in this neighborhood, where many historic and old restaurants are gathered, You-jin Sikdang's Pyeongyang naengmyeon has become so popular that it has been featured on numerous television shows.

The good thing about You-jin Sikdang is that you can take your Pyeongyang naengmyeon outside and enjoy it beside Tapgol Park. When we got there, all the outdoor tables were already occupied, but the weather was so wonderful that I had to ask the owner to set up another table.

Along with a few buskers(??) in front of the restaurant, you can see numerous elderly people playing chess or go.

 

Menu

You must try Nokdu-jijim and Pyeongyang naengmyeon cooked with homemade noodles. Additionally, there are fascinating dishes like Seolleongtang and Suyuk that drinkers will love.

Since 1968, You-jin Sikdang has more than 50 years of history.

​Although Pyeongyang naengmyeon and thick, crispy Nokdu-jijim are its most well-known dishes, many other dishes, including Suyuk, Seolleongtang, and Gukbab, are also quite popular.

We ordered Pyeongyang naengmyeon, Nokdu-jijim, and Suyuk. In this wonderful weather, ice-cold beer is also an absolute must.

Add a little bit of the tiny pickled shrimp served together. The chewy texture pairs perfectly with Soju. However, we are not good at drinking, so we had beers instead of soju.

Pleasant outdoor atmosphere

 

Nokdu-jijim  9,000 won

What's amazing is that the outside has a crispy texture, like a batter-coated snack, while the inside is very soft and moist. It tastes excellent with soy sauce onions.

Because of this super delicious nokdujijim, I visited You-jin Sikdang for two weeks in a row.

 

​Pyeongyang naengmyeon  10,000 won

Pyeongyang naengmyeon with 100% pure buckwheat noodles in a beef broth and dongchimi. It tastes better if you add some vinegar and mustard according to your taste.

In the past, I didn't know the taste of pairing alcohol with Pyeongyang naengmyeon, but now that I'm older, I understand the taste a little bit.

 

Seolleongtang  6,000 won

There's plenty of meat in it, but it's only 6,000 won... I can't believe that a bowl of Seolleongtang and a bottle of soju can be ordered only at 10,000 won.

Seolleongtang comes with rice inside, and it has so much meat in it. It's hard to believe that the price is only 6,000 won.

Even though the prices are cheap, all of them are delicious.

Suyuk (beef)  15,000 won

I was really full, but I ordered Suyuk (beef) since I was curious about the taste.

Dip it in the mustard paste that comes with it.

The lean meat was tender and soft, and the tendon was chewy. The Suyuk made with pork was delicious, but the beef one was pretty good too. Best of all, how can beef be so cheap?

When you sit outside You-jin Sikdang and dine, you can watch the dynamic look of Tapgol Park, such as small drunken fights, elderly people singing and dancing on the street, and so on.

This is another fun thing at You-jin Sikdang.

It is a special experience to enjoy Pyeongyang naengmyeon at an outside plastic table. We strongly recommend You-jin Sikdang, where you can enjoy a variety of foods at reasonable prices and honest taste with 50 years of business.
