Plaza Son Kalguksu
As you can see from the aged signage, it is a very old eatery specializing in Kalguksu (knife-cut wheat flour noodles).
According to what I read, there is usually a line, but when I went, there was actually none.
But the entire time I was there, the restaurant was packed.
Menu
Kalguksu, Sujebi, Kongguksu, and Gullim mandu are on the menu!
Kongguksu (noodles in cold soybean soup) is only served during the summer, and Sujebi (hand-pulled dough soup) only after 3 pm.
Gullim Mandu (dumpling) 10,000 won
Ten thousand won gets you six rolled dumplings! It was pricey but worth it because they are large and tasty.
No soy sauce is necessary because the dumplings are big and flavorful enough on their own.
Kalguksu (knife-cut noodle soup) 10,000 won / Sujebi 10,500 won
This dish was excellent with its flavorful broth, chewy Sujebi, and satisfying Kalguksu noodles. I don't know if the noodles are made immediately upon ordering, but they arrived later than expected.
Extra Daedaegi (spicy sauce) made the food somewhat saltier instead of spicy. I packed up the extra dumplings because the portion was bigger than I had anticipated.
Next time I'm in town, I must return for the Kongguksu because it is one of my favorite Korean dishes. This is the spot to go in Garak-dong if you're craving some delicious Kalguksu.
