Seomjip (Yongsan)
I am here today to tell you about Seomjip, a fantastic Korean restaurant in Yongsan. For the second time, I am here. I went back because the food was so good the last time I visited.
I suggest calling ahead to make a reservation because this eatery gets a lot of diners.
Seomjip (Annex building)
While my previous visit took place in the Main Building, this time around we were sent to the Annex building. Despite the interior's smaller feel compared to the main building, it appears to be a suitable spot for group visits.
Menu
The cuisine is authentic Korean, and it's not cheap; so, I recommend going with a large group and sharing many different dishes.
*** An extra 4,000 won will be charged for each extra serving of Pogi kimchi, Baekdong, Salted oyster, and Stew from the side dishes. Takeaway and delivery are also available for all menu items.
The side dishes at this restaurant are really delicious, and they're so excellent that you could finish an entire bowl of rice by themselves. Side dishes may vary daily, so please check the menu.
Among the side dishes, I highly recommend the pickled pollack roe, it is absolutely excellent!
Salm-eun dwaejigogi & Eoli-guljeot 23,000 won (minimum order of 2 servings)
Served with thick-boiled pork, salted baby oysters and delicious kimchi. For my first time ordering this and the serving size was just right. It was disappointing, though, because the fat of pork was somewhat excessive, as seen in the picture.
Salted pollack roe is a great combination with the pork. The roe enhances the flavor of the slightly smelly cooked pork.
Seomjip Yukjeon 28,000 won
Remembering how tasty the Yukjeon (thinly sliced beef coated in flour and egg) was on my previous visit, I decided to order it again.
It was the perfect thickness, and the Yukjeon wasn't oily at all. If you're looking for a tasty Yukjeon, look no further. In all my years of eating Yukjeon, this was the tastiest.
You can make the little greasiness go away by adding the soy sauce that comes with it.
Crab Maeun-tang (Stew) 49,000 won (for 2)
Since I loved it the first time, I ordered it again. It's got a lot of red pepper powder on top. I thought the soup was rather bland after my first mouthful, but it really improved with additional boiling time!
The huge crabs provided rich flavor to the soup as it simmers for a longer time. However, it wasn't quite as tasty as the last time, so I was a bit let down.
Ganjang Gejang 39,000 won (1 Serving)
Ganjang Gejang (soy marinated raw crab) with a whole crab full of roes. Regular soy sauce crab has a strong fishy smell and is very salty, but the crab here is really delicious. Those who aren't fond of soy sauce crab won't have any issues eating it because it doesn't smell fishy at all.
When squeezed the roe over white rice, the combination is absolutely amazing!
On our way back to Yongsan station we passed "Seomjip no.3”, the third location in Yongsan. Check out Seomjip if you're in the mood for some tasty Korean cuisine close to Yongsan Station.
