Seorin Nakji

Seorin Nakji

I often watch Sung Si-kyung's YouTube channel and every restaurant he visits looks incredibly delicious. He ate with such enjoyment that I became curious about the flavors.

By chance, Seorin Nakji (Gwanghwamun, Seoul), the restaurant where Seong Si-kyung had Nakji (octopus), was nearby, so I decided to go there and try it. Thankfully, there was no line, but the tables were nearly full.

Seorin Nakji is located just a short walk from Gwanghwamun D Tower toward Jonggak Station. It is located on the second floor of the building. It’s easy to spot thanks to the signboard with blue and red letters on a yellow background.

It seems that many customers place their orders in a similar way after seeing Seong Si-kyung enjoy Nakji-bokkeum (stir-fried octopus) and Bacon-sausage. As soon as we sat down, the staff asked if we wanted to order the Bacon-sausage with the Nakji-bokkeum. However, we only ordered the Nakji-bokkeum, as I thought I’d get too full if I ordered both.

If you’re dining with three or more people, it would be ideal to order the Nakji-bokkeum with the Bacon-sausage.

I took a bowl from the self-service area near the entrance, poured a small amount of sesame oil into it, and mixed it with rice.

Unlike other restaurants that mix Nakji-bokkeum with a lot of vegetables, Seorin Nakji uses about 95% octopus and only 5% vegetables. This makes it a very generous and satisfying dish.

The octopus was incredibly tasty. It had a delightful chewy texture and a perfectly spicy flavor. I’ve never had better Nakji-bokkeum than this.

The mixed bean sprouts with Nakji-bokkeum and rice were a perfect combination. I really appreciate how large the octopus pieces were. Seorin Nakji’s Nakji-bokkeum was truly outstanding.

Seorin Nakji is an absolute must-try. Eating their delicious and spicy Nakji-bokkeum always puts a smile on my face.
