Soba Sikdang (seongsu store)

Soba Sikdang (seongsu store)

On an incredibly hot day, I went to a well-known soba (noodle) restaurant in Seongsu-dong to eat something refreshing and cold.

When we stopped by on Monday at 1:40 PM, seven or eight groups were already waiting in front of us. After around forty minutes of waiting, we were finally let in.

If you arrive at about 2:30 PM, you might not have to wait much to enter, since the break period begins at 3:00 PM. Be advised that there is a possibility that you may not be served food if the break time approaches or if the ingredients are exhausted.

The tablet on the table allows you to place an order and pay all at once.

Side dish

Served on a charming and antique platter, the side dishes consist of two varieties of radish kimchi and pickled veggies.

Jeonbok (Abalone) Cold Soba 14,000 / Salmon Rice Bowl 15,000 / Tamago Menchi Katsu 9,000

The two of us ordered this.

Jeonbok (Abalone) Cold Soba  14,000 won

I opted for the Abalone cold soba without shrimp since I was too tired to peel them. However, this restaurant is well known for its signature menu; Shrimp+Abalone cold soba.

Just let them know if cucumber isn't your thing and they'll take it out. The egg roll in the soba was quite delicious, and the abalone was flavorful without being fishy.

Most importantly, sipping this cold soup in the hot weather was incredibly refreshing.

Salmon Rice Bowl 15,000 won

We ordered one serving of salmon rice instead of two noodles.

Yummy, too, was the salmon rice! Also, this menu will suffice if you're not a fan of soba (noodle). Mix the fish roe and salmon altogether, it is quite delicious.

Tamago Menchi Katsu 9,000 won

After hearing that the Tamago Menchi Katsu was a must-try, we ordered one.

I was expecting a plain fried egg flavor, but the well-cooked egg tasted quite good and the sauce was just right. Having it on the side is my recommendation.

If you're looking for some refreshing soba during the hot summer months in Seongsu-dong, this is the spot to go. Everything on the menu this time was tasty, so I wouldn't recommend picking a favorite. As a side dish, I highly suggest the Tamago Menchi Katsu.
