Tampa (Apgujeong, Seoul), a Cuban sandwich haven that first opened in Yeonam-dong back in October 2015, has since relocated to Apgujeong-dong in August 2022.

The restaurant gets its name from Tampa, a port city in Florida, USA, and is known for its Cuban sandwiches. Tampa has gained significant recognition, even winning first place at the International Annual Cuban Sandwich Festival in both 2017 and 2018.

The Tampa Cuban Sandwich is a classic, featuring the quintessential mojo roast pork, aged ham, salami, and Swiss cheese all stacked on thin Cuban bread. You can also customize it with extra tomatoes and jalapenos if you prefer some added kick.

What makes the sandwich standout is the roast pork. The pork shoulder used in the mojo pork is wonderfully tender and juicy, with a pleasant roasted flavor and reduced fat for a perfect texture. The Philly Cheese Steak at Tampa was a pleasant surprise. While it’s traditionally made with American beef, this one reminded me more of Korean bulgogi, thanks to the marinated beef. It comes on a baguette with onions, green peppers, and American cheese.

The coleslaw served on the side added a nice touch of freshness and balanced out the richness of the sandwich. If you’re feeling indulgent, consider adding a side of Mac N' Cheese or Deep Fried Oreos for a fun, extra-calorie treat.
