MINJUKIM & PAKUA
Last time, when I visited several brand showrooms in Bukchon, Seoul, I also stopped by MINJUKIM and PAKUA's showroom called Hayan(white) Hanok.
After collaborating with Rockfish Weatherwear last summer, the international fashion designer Minju Kim became more famous in Korea. Some of you may be familiar with this designer if you're into fashion.
PAKUA is Minju Kim's newest brand. In contrast to MINJUKIM, which blends avant-garde and haute couture, PAKUA creates designs that a wider audience can appreciate.
Hayan Hanok in Bukchon is where you may find both brands.
Starting with a quick overview of the brand, I will go into detail about the showroom.
MINJUKIM
Launched in 2015, the MINJUKIM label by fashion designer Minju Kim is supposedly inspired by a fairytale-like idea that combines youthful playfulness with avant-garde haute couture.
She studied at Antwerp's Royal Academy of Fine Arts, where she won the H&M Award, made it to the LVMH Prize semifinals, and was also a winner of Next in Fashion.
PAKUA
PAKUA was newly launched this April.
Pakua offers energetic and vibrant women's clothes and is distinguished by its use of various details such as color, graphics, and logos.
Compared to MINJUKIM, this second brand reaches out to a wider audience by lowering the price point and making its products more accessible.
Hayan Hanok (showroom)
If you're heading toward Jeongdok Library from Anguk Station, you'll see the showroom. Even though it's not far from the busy Bukchon, the place is surprisingly serene and peaceful.
MINJUKIM is a label that never stops releasing new colors and designs. They said they wanted to design a place where the showroom could be perfectly integrated with everything.
That's how Hayan(white) Hanok came to be. Like a white piece of paper.
As you step inside, a lovely cat is there to meet you. There is a showroom on the ground level, private offices on the upper level, and the basement is used as a workroom.
The entryway displays Pakua items, reflecting Minju Kim's avant-garde spirit and youthful, athletic vibe.
Butterfly Baby Dress 249,000 won
MINJUKIM Handkerchief 38,000 won
AKU, an adorable doll, is dressed up in a headscarf.
Extending from one side of the wall to the other, MINJUKIM items were displayed throughout.
If you are planning a trip to Bukchon or Anguk, it would be a good idea to stop by their showroom. It is a fantastic space, so you should definitely check it out.
