Pont Coffee (Mullae store)
Café Pont, located in an old structure in Mullae-dong.
I went to this well-known cafe in Mullae-dong twice thanks to a good friend of mine and each time I wondered what made this cafe so popular.
I noticed a very old red brick structure that was nearly ruined. It was my second visit yesterday. I had heard that this place serves some of the best coffee in town, so I decided to have a latte and I ended up really enjoying it.
PONT: "Pont is the French word for bridge or go-between."
Cafe Pont has two locations: one in Mullae and another in Yongsan.
Yesterday, we went to the location in Mullae, and we hope to visit the Yongsan location soon as well. If you're planning a trip here, I suggest taking public transportation.
Instead of being exhibited open at the top like most cafés do, the bread here was enclosed in glass to give the impression that it was more sanitary. Even though the financier and canelé looked irresistible, I refrained from eating them because I was on a diet.
Pont Coffee was bustling with customers.
There were fresh flowers everywhere, filling the air with their fragrance. After placing the order, they handed us a miniature lamp in the shape of a mushroom instead of a vibrating pager.
Menu
Fresh Juice (left) 6,000 won / Latte (right) 5,300 won
We ordered a latte and a glass of fresh juice. The other day, I had some fresh juice, and it was very refreshing and not overly sweet. In addition, the latte I had this time was quite tasty, and I enjoyed drinking it very much.
There were more tables than I expected.
From the outside, the structure looked like it was about to collapse, yet once inside, it was very modern and stylish.
Made a beautiful sound.
Listening to music at an appropriate volume from speakers helped me relax and enjoy my coffee.
Merchandise and coffee beans were also available for purchase.
This canvas bag was something I was interested in purchasing, but instead, I just shot pictures of it.
Mullae-dong was a one-of-a-kind district in Seoul, blending the city's traditional architecture with that of modern eateries and cafes.
It has been announced that a new Seoul Arts Center will be constructed in this area, so I anticipate making many visits to the area's popular eateries and coffee shops soon.
Pont Coffee was a place that made me always wonder why it was so popular in comparison to other cafes in my neighborhood. The latte's flavor and aroma were so rich and excellent that I could see why this café was so popular.
